I am actually surprised at the number of peopl having great experiences with stock...I for one had a horrible experience with not one, but two phones on the stock OS...I had to reset close to 15 times a day due to freezeups and whatnot...
I thought it might be related to an issue with a calendar.exe error and error reporting being turned off but causing system instability, but the issue completely disappeared with the custom ROMs... I've tried Mighty and Juicy so far and find both just as fast if not faster than stock with better stability... just my personal opinion as many others appear to like stock...it was unusable for me though...

Mighty ROM v. 110909.
Had MM v. 103009 installed previously, and is now more stable. Mighty Mike Rules! All the Best!

I have tried almost every rom available on this site and after doing so I have ended up staying on Cfay's ROM. It is extremely stable and is free of all of the "bloat" that most rom chefs cook into their roms. It's more of a personal preference of mine I guess to be more stock-like in the rom. My theory is that you can always add/remove programs later, but you can't generally remove them once they are cooked in.
