Youtube App doesn't work for me (Sprint + MR)
 

Need some help. I cannot get the Youtube app to work. I open the app, it downloads the thumbnails of videos like normally, but when I click on a video to play it, it loads for 5 seconds and then pops up with Error, This video cannot be played.

Also, when I open up a youtube video via opera, it opens the streaming media player, but it gives me an error as well "failed to connect".

Sprint by the way... Firist time trying the youtube app. Been running this rom since day 1.

Anyone got any ideas?

I know it should work. For some reason it is not. Just trying to figure out why before I hard reset as a last resort.

sae thing happenned to me to. I figured out that youtube stopped working after i ran the sim unlocker. Luckily i did a spb backup beforehand. I just did a hardreset and restored and youtube works again.

I've never ran the sim unlocker, just the HSPL. I guess when the next mighty rom is released, I'll check everything before I starting going bonkers installing stuff.

don't install anything else.. it will work eventually... it happens randomly.. maybe service interuptions? doesn't make sense.. but if you give it a few hours.. it will work.

I've been trying it now for hours. I'll continue to try, but I don't think it will work.

Downloaded the app.... Good news is that it works...

Bad news - That app sucks compared to the one that comes with the phone. The quality of the videos are terrible and the GUI is severely lacking.

Any other ideas?

if ur on stock rom go to upgrade section and flash the stock sprint rom. that did the fix for me. had same thing happen to mine right out of box. i feel that the stock rom i flashed off here is snappy and less buggy then the one that came out of box. weird yes true indeed. give it a try !!

Thanks for the advice, but I am looking for a solution that does not entail flashing back to stock or clearing storage.

May not be the same problem, but oddly on my Verizon TP1, I was unable to play videos with the app while connected to vzw, but was when I turned off that connection and connected via wifi to my wlan. Possibly coincidence (I didn't perform good lab etiquette and repeat both again to verify), but thought I'd mention just in case it helps peal away the problem. :toothy7:

I am sue you saw my post in the MM forum having identical issue . I am also wondering if it is one of the cabs added thats causing it but cannot seem to get a response from the guys in the thread,,I still havent found a fix and you are right, the other player worked but quality was bad.We need to get a fresh cab for the stock app and try it, but that may be hard as I am still seeking one for Sprint tv that works with the MM rom

that's weird man. Wish I could help, but this sounds like a specific issue on your end. I have the same sprint/mr setup and don't encounter the error.

If a hard reset doesn't fix it, or the stock rom, I hate to say it, but you may need to try sprint tech support. I know you'd probably pull your teeth out with pliers, but you never know, maybe sprint's tech support knows exactly what it is lol.
