verizon`s voice is over there 2.5g standard(1xRTT) amd data over there 3g standard(evdo)!! cdma is really called cdma2000(IS-2000) but we all just call it cdma. this is all in the same radio !! they can both theoretically transmit data but the standard is phone calls is 1x only and data evdo

Re: Tethering question
you could if it was possible to tether and share a wifi connection for the data and you had enough cord to use phone on face or have speaker phone on.

u can have ur wifi connected to another wifi device(ie router) and on the phone! Phone will be on fire but it will work!!(i think) but using cdma u can not be teathered via 3g (evdo) and on a phone call (1x) the only way i could see this working is using voip to call while using the data to teather!! Re: Tethering question
Yes... but you have to use your house phone to talk while your mobile is tethered.

Re: Tethering question
No offense to the OP, but we have seen countless threads about data and voice working at the same time, not just on the TP2 but practically any phone. Is there a noobs section we can direct people to look in first? If not, I will make one.

Re: Tethering question
As said above, you cannot use data and voice at same time, that is the caviet of cdma. Only way to accomplish what you want is if you call using VOIP rather then standard dialer.
This way all connections, will be done through EVDO. Note though that EVDO is not as reliable as 1xCDMA so if your not in an area where EVDO is stable you can get cut off, otherwise it is doable.

Tethering to use local wifi doesn't make sense unless my wifi in my laptop dies.. |
