Also, just my opinion, but I think they had this unlocker done maybe over a month ago but they are just hustling for the money now. I think they are experts and can probably crack these things in a day or two if they wanted. Maybe they purposely leaked false info about the release dates to get more interest and thus more money. Who knows if what I say is right or wrong, however, I wasn't born yesterday and I know the economy is doing bad.

To date there is no official word in the unlocker thread that this will not be a pay for. They charge for GSM. See it yourself.

now that does look a little fishy maybe there are just trying to figure out a way to make more money. I would pay for it, but why couldn't they just say that in the beginning instead of the long process.

The best part is, they are going to spend two weeks or more making the licensing server but it will take under 1 hour to crack and post on ebay anyway if somebody really wanted too!

For the same reason people pay to have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch... because they heard from someone else that is the way to go so they do it, too. They don't always know why it is or what it does, they just do it because they can.

I have seen several people on ebay and craigslist selling unlocked CDMA and GSM phones in the states, and toting that they are unlocked. And charging more for them. Check craigslist every day for a week in any major city and you will see at least one person offering to unlock a phone or jailbreak an iPhone or iPod Touch. And believe me, they aren't doing it for free.

As a former developer, I understand the Elite Team's thinking. And if you try to as well, I promise you it will make sense. They are putting a lot of effort and time into writing us an unlocker and offering it for free. Why in the hell would they want anyone else selling their hard work to make money? Be honest, if it was you, you wouldn't.

AC had the same issue last year with S2U2. Some web sites were selling packages of software as "compilations" which were in essence nothing but a collection of free WinMo apps. What did AC do? He pulled his software off his site and quit developing it for what I remember was a little over a month. Because he was offering a free product that someone else was selling for profit. Sounds familiar, doesn't it.

C'mon people, relax. It doesn't matter if cmonex and the Elite Team want to license it just for the fact that they can, because it is there hard work. If that's what they want to do, you have two choices:

1. Thank them, use it, and move along your merry way.

or

2. Forget them, don't use it, and move along your merry way.


The simple fact is that they have the right to do what they want because the blood, sweat and tears are theirs. Therefore, all the choices regarding it are theirs, as well.

Am I saying that they are excused for promising, or even hinting at a date, and failing to achieve anything short of success? No, but I am also the first to say "oh well" and move on to the next thread. Because ultimately I know they have lives, they have families, they have jobs, and they are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts (ok, maybe a little bit of bragging rights, too). And I also know that they will come through for us when they can. They always have in the past and I am all about basing my opinion on experience.

In any case, everyone just needs to settle down and be grateful that someone is working on an unlocker at all. Because all the whining, crying, yelling, quitting and everything else negative is going to do nothing positive for our community. And for me, that's why I am here. The ability to learn, the ability to grow, and the community that we have.

So I guess for the people that say they do all of this in their free time as a courtesy and not to profit, are all talking out of their a!! ........But I like how everyone pretends to know why they do it and say the money part means nothing to them.......
