dead tp2
if you let the phone die and power itself off how long does it take before it allows you to power it up?
i have it plugged in see a amber charge light but it wont power on

Yep, as soon as I plugged it in. Pop the battery out for 10 min then put it back in and try to turn it on. If that doesn't work try doing a hard reset. Or see if it starts in the bootloader

Depends how you're charging it. Using USB cable from a computer (and it also depends on the USB current), sometimes you have to wait a while. On my friend's mac pro, it actually doesn't charge the phone even though the amber light is on :S. All it does is keep the power level at about the same percentage.
Using a power outlet or even your car charger, you should be able to turn it on immediately.
