Is the cold killing my battery?

I think it might be 40degrees in my house and I noticed today that my battery is dieing rappidly. For instance it was at 70% 3 hours ago. I talked on it three times for about 15mins total, and recieved one missed call and one text message the phone is at 15%. Basicly I didnt use it at all and its all but dead. I like it cold in my house and I know cold can kill batteries but I dont rember this being an issue on my TP1 but then again I dont think I had that phone durring the winter.
