Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

I am really going to miss my tp2 it was a beautiful phone......
I ordered and paid in full price the first day that they were out......

I truly wanted to believe, :drunken:I truly did....

=D>First of all the speakerphone quality is superb and the phone itself is fast and repsonsive; battery life was very very good.:headbang:

So much for the good.

After the wow of the gorgeous tilt screen was over,
(basically like a 1 night stand) I just tried to use and to tweak the touch flo interface. The only thing it added was an extra layer of icandy that I just don't need in the way(speed had nothing to do with it).

This "business class" phone had much potential but they foooged it up! It could have been so great but they crippled and disabled many things.
Before getting this superphone, I dreamt of it like sleeping with a supermodel.

I own a Tech based business with many many clients and I even do remote desktop support from my phone.

Everything was just too many steps. Too many.:spin:
So much for making my life better, ah well.

The main reasons for going back are:

#1 copy and paste from internet, email & messaging
first and foremost how stupid to not include the ability, natively.](*,)

Default browser & Internet
this is windows mobile, right?:protest:
Wheres the soft menu buttons for Internet settings in IE. have fun getting back to settings when you choose full screen.

Keyboard
- it is great and roomy but a little far apart; and then with all that extra room not include a TAB, CTRL or ALT keys or menu buttons.
I have big fingers and I still find myself reaching kinda hard for keys; numbers too close at the top when tilted

Touchflo Favorite contacts - you choose the number for the picture when setup and yet still have to choose the number after choosing the contact.
example - Bill work(in suit) Bill home(in hammock) just more steps - not going to choose each time

Touchflo menus - choose settings all settings - programs all programs, no weather or menu customizations

Contacts
- does not show all contact info like notes have to choose more then notes.

Call History - have to choose another list to get the details of a call, business class indeed

Cannot edit a picture, kill the FM radio.:disgust:

I was very disappointed with just another jazzed up WM version that had a tilt screen. I do realize that there will be many great and beneficial hacks to this phone but I cannot wait for that to happen I am just too busy to have to fix this too.

I guess I was just hoping that it would be great out of the box.

I want to apologize for the negative critique; there are just too many reasons to go back to my mogul that it just did better and easier.
(aside from battery life lol)

Also in the not too distant future there are more devices that have snapdragons & 5MP+ and even better coming down the pike, so I guess that I can wait just a little while longer.

Well we'll just end our relationship as just 2 ships passing in the night.

Goodbye babe:sad: we had fun didn't we?

preeeetty much everything you listed there already has a tweak.... not to mention a lot of it will be changed with 6.5
you didn't even give it a chance

touch flo blows, classic start and spb mobile. spank it hands down

now if only the ringtone through bluetooth would work

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

Your "favorite contacts" complaint...I'm not quite sure what you mean...on the main touchflo slider if I go to the contacts slider, I can select the person there and right under their picture is all of the phone number choices (cell, home, etc) and as soon as I push that it dials...

I don't think I have ever disagreed more with a review. Sorry, it didn't work out for you, but I truly love my TP2. I never thought a keyboard with extra spacing would be a problem.

xr7kid 10-15-2009 11:24 AM

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

So you know Touchflo can be disabled right? Which would then beg the question, how is the TP2's version of WM 6.1 different than the Moguls version of WM 6.1? So basically you gave up a nicer screen and keyboard (a keyboard you can use without the screen tilted, much like the Moguls), international compatibility, much more ram, and other things because you couldn't turn off what is basically a today screen plug in?

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

WOW, I can't believe you said the keyboard is a problem, that's a 1st. Everything you said may be true but it all gets fixed with the unlocker. If you thought 6.1 would be any different on this device then any other then you were sadly mistaken, 6.1 is 6.1 no matter what the device. Everything from defaulut browser, touch flo (which can be disabled) , call history, and even the fm radio will be fixed when the unlocker comes, but the sit there and think Sprint is about to give you all that in its release is a joke.

Who cares if you don't like the phone. Everyone has their own personal feature needs. If the phone didn't work for you then get something else. I don't get the purpose of these posts. Are we supposed to feel bad that you didn't like a phone?

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

Sounds like someone who really wants an iPhone but doesn't want to be a tag along. Give in man, just go buy it. TP2 isn't for the simple minded, out of the box hapiness. Besides, this post is just retarded, you can do everything you mentioned but you just couldn't figure it out. Little hint, slide finger all the way to the right. Find "All Settings", goto "Personal Tab", then "Today", and uncheck the only one that is checked there, problems fixed.

TP2 is one of the best phones, if not THE best phone on the CDMA market today.

That "review" reads like it was written by a miserable person. You'll find problems with any phone you use.

Ah, here we go again with users bashing a member because they don't like the device.

I don't think we need to go through this again... The OP is posting his opinion. If you don't have anything constructive to say, move along.

if you create a thread saying bye, that doesnt make sense in the 1st place. one there are already many threads about peacing out so techinically he shouldve posted in one of those threads instead of creating another one. 2nd he should just go buy his phone instead of creating a thread, this thread will help no one in the least, everything he posted is very old news, problems we knew with winmo 6.1 a long time ago. 3rd when you create a useless thread like this on a ppc forum, you will get hated on.

Why do retards keep posting these "I'm taking my toys and going home" posts? Seriously, what the hell do you hope to accomplish? Don't like the TP2? Great, GTFO and I promise no one will miss you.

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

I liked the review... I thought it was fair and balanced. Except for the keyboard thing... odd.

To jump out and call people retards and iphone lovers is a bit immature (And yes, I'm immature for calling someone else immature!)... People are providing an opinion... in a forum... no more or less than someone else who loves the phone. Guess we want a forum with nothing but flowers, balloons, and cake...

Sure I'll love mine when it arrives tomorrow. If I do I'll post here... if I don't I'll post here. lol

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

never understood why some people buy a products, and obsess over the most silliest things, when the product it is replacing is 100 x worst. every issue i have had, i found i fix for it, so my tp2 keeps getting better, and better.

i'm not surprised though, i see it every time a new phone come out... tp3 can come out tomorrow with a nvidia tegra chip, dedicated gpu, 512 mb of ram, wm 7 pre installed, and a 4" oled screen, and you'll have guys saying their ppc6700 is superior.

KrazyKevin76 10-16-2009 12:25 AM

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

Here is the problem with his post. If he was looking for help in resolving the issues he had, then he would have got tons of help. But basically he telling everyone here why he hates the phone and how disappointed he is in the phone, and why he is getting rid of the phone, and why he's going to his old phone, and and and and........ I think this forum is to help people when they have problems. He didn't help a sole nor did he help his situation.

Maybe I just see things differently, but I agree, I have no idea why people think they have to create a thread and tell everyone here why they are leaving the TP2 thread after they just got here. (9 Posts by the OP) Honestly, what is he wanting us to do?

Here's my problem with all of you. He posted a negative opinion with very valid points and you acted like he just threw a Bible on the ground and spat on it.

Fanboyism isn't just for Apple customers.

I agree that the forum is for helping others, but I don't see any reason for a user to be attacked when sharing his/her opinion.

So what if he did throw a Bible on the ground and spit on it... He would be entitled to do so. Valid points, some. Super easy fixes, many.

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

The point is, its a worthless thread. We can all do as we choose. But we don't. It is pointless to come here and rant, complain, or give your opinion if you already gave up on the phone and are back with another phone. He wasn't asking for advice. He was *****ing about something he don't even use anymore. Again, pointless!!

It's like me buying a new camaro. Then not liking it and taking it back to the dealer. Going and buying a new ford. Then go back to the chevy forums and post up a new thread about allllllllllllllll the things I think is wrong with the camaro and titling the thread "BYE BYE Chevy, I own a Ford now, whoo hoo". It's really stupid. There is nothing to accomplish. NOTHING!

I'm not hating on the guy at all. He can do as he pleases. But, it's still dumb creating a "BYE" thread.

Mutiny32 10-16-2009 12:49 AM

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

It's not worthless. It's discussing the phone. And he discussed points that the carrier or the manufacturer is neglecting to fix.

KrazyKevin76 10-16-2009 01:00 AM

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

And how did this thread help you? Me? Anyone else? Kinda like your girlfriend breaking up with you, but you feel the need to write a letter or keep going by and seeing her parents? You might think it makes you feel better. But it really makes u look stupid!!

Again. Just my opinion. The OP can do as he pleases. But I'm with the majority. It ain't gonna go very well.

Re: Boo Hoo;sniff bye TP2 (critique)

It added to my opinion that while the hardware on the phone is great, it could be so much better performing. I have been weighing whether I should jump over to Android or not and this helped sway it a little more.

I'm not happy with how Sprint or HTC is handling their Windows devices or customers who use them. It's apparent that Sprint has already written the TP2 off and is going for an OS new customers want. While they may sell the TP2 in large quantities to companies, they are heavily discounted. More novel and "shinier" devices are making them money and gaining them more customers in the process; something they are desperately trying to accomplish right now.

No, me being a Linux user and contributor for years and seeing how fast Android is evolving is swaying me. I have a G1. The apps from day 1 were awesome. The responsiveness of the OS is awesome. The screen is awesome, even if it's lower resolution, just because it's a resistive screen. It uses the most updated ARM toolchain and the newest stable version of Linux Kernel.

I could say a lot more, but I just don't care enough to argue my points to anyone.
