Yeah. I really want to wake the screen with something other than the power button, but so far, no luck. BTW, "screen rotate" works perfectly. I mapped it to the mute button.

Re: Can I turn my screen off another way?

FIX:

1. Install SDKcerts (posted on page 1)
2. Install RhodiumKbdControl_CDMA (posted on page 1)
3. Install ScreenOff
4. Install ScreenOn
5. Assign ScreenOff to right or left softkey. Or place visible shortcut.
6. Assign long press home, back or end key to ScreenOn. (using RhodiumKbdControl_CDMA)

What's the Rhodium keyboard mapper? Is that separate and does that need to be installed or used to make it work?

Sorry. I was referring to RhodiumKbdControl_CDMA.cab posted on page 1. I can't think of another way to make this work without it. BTW, it's really nice being able to turn the screen off and on without pressing that tiny power button.

Re: Can I turn my screen off another way?

Tested and works perfectly. The lights on the keys stay on for a few seconds when you power off, but that's it. Besides that, no issues.

Thanks a bunch. Exactly what I was looking for. Easier one hand operation, and closer to the screen.

Thumbs up Re: Can I turn my screen off another way?

Thanks! I was really worried I was going to kill my power button.

I ended up using my "VOLUME_DOWN" button to power the screen up and a shortcut to turn the screen off. (Volume_UP button still brings up volume and I use the touchscreen to adjust the volume anyway.) Also, I'm using SPB Mobile Shell so there's a 'Phone Profile' shortcut I use to switch between 'normal' 'silent' and 'vibrate'.

Spoke too soon.

I'm trying to use this with S2U2 w/ passcode. As soon as the screen turns off, none of the buttons allow me to pull up S2U2 (or get any response for that matter) except the power button.

Any suggestions?

Re: Can I turn my screen off another way?

A few things I've noticed. If you allow the screen to "time out," only the power button will turn it back on. If you run "ScreenOff," "ScreenOn" will always turn the screen back on. If you leave programs running after pressing "ScreenOff," they won't stop running. This is ideal when listening to music. If you try setting "ScreenOff," to a hardware key it won't stay off. It only works with traditional shortcuts, at least in my tests. It sounds like S2U2 is incompatible with "ScreenOn" because it only works after running "ScreenOff."

Re: Can I turn my screen off another way?

Here is an app to turn off the screen with the proximity sensor. You could use this along with other apps, I believe. I did not do any development on this, but I am happy to share it. I can't remember where I found it, but it works Great! It is a superb solution to prevent accidental calls when the phone is pocketed or in a bag, pouch or if you accidently sit on it!
It is basically a screen off/lock device. It turns off the screen and locks all keys except the power button. When you turn the screen back on, you don't have to unlock it. I don't know if the key remapper program will override this or not.
