i tried mp3s with no luck, had to use wavs myself, but only for notifications. normal ringtones work as mp3s. then again i used audacity to make them, so maybe its different with mp3 trimmer on the phone

what notifications are you talking about?
well i should clarify i use a mp3 for a ringtone, email, and voicemail, the rest are default tones on the phone which i will assume are .wav.

I use short clips for text messages, I get roughly 20k texts a month, and dont want to hear anything that often. So Ive never used the mp3trimmer. Just dropped a 1 sec mp3 into the folder, works fine

You CAN actually have specific text tones to a specific contact. The software is called INBOXTONES and it is free. It gives a contact a specific sms tone and email tone. However it does not support MMS.

I can't get a custom ring tone to appear on the: Sounds & Notifications > Messaging: New Text Message and in Phone: Voicemail select sections.

I converted the mp3's to wav's but they do not come up on the Notifications Sounds List. Only the default ring tones that came with the phone appear.

I was able to have custom mp3 and wavs for each profile, but just not for general new text or voicemails.

Please help.

Did you try my device > application data > sounds? That worked for me
