OK, http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2353789,00.asp, and a quote from the article "Sprint said its HTC Touch Pro2 update won't arrive until sometime in early 2010"...sooooo...how's that HARD SPL coming along??.....:???:

Re: 6.5 is here, where is the upgrade?
It amazes me how many people assume that just because today is the official release date for WM6.5 that the carriers would also have FW upgrades available on the same date. IMHO we have to sit tight and if their past record holds true Sprint will release their FW upgrade to WM 6.5 before Big Red and T Mobile. In fact if I recall correctly on the Touch the FW upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1 was available on Sprint about 2 months before Verizon.

Re: 6.5 is here, where is the upgrade?
I'm on the phone with Verizon tech support FWIW.
I doubt they'll give me any good info on the TP2, but I'll post if they do. EDIT: No info, person on phone thinks store will know more...somehow I doubt it. |
Re: 6.5 is here, where is the upgrade?
I remember paying $50 to get a WM5 upgrade for my Dell Axim MONTHS after release, and some people actually expect a free upgrade on the release day? Damn kids these days, I tell ya...

Re: 6.5 is here, where is the upgrade?
I guess if it gives people something to do then they might as well but its pretty much completely pointless to expect this anytime soon. This is a MARKETING event solely for effect and to "officially" debut a base product, Windows Phone OS. There are a whole lotta links in the chain before this gets to the handset since the manufacturers make cutomizations, then the carriers each have differing requirements and restrictions. Dont hold your breath seeing this anytime soon as an upgrade, just an OEM.
And tech support isnt gonna have anything reliable to say, its not as if they have high-level meetings every day to stay up to date on the latest "new thing", theyre just CS reps there to troubleshoot a limited array of equipment/handsets and the very specific problems and solutions most common to them. I'll bet anybody 5 bucks though that some tech rep will say somethingorother and the result will be eleventyfour posts here with OMG!!1!111! VEROZON TOTALLY HAS A 6.5 UPDATE, or similar. |
