Re: Dyeing your battery cover-(SPRINT) Instructions (Pics of orange removed)

The Tape I was using was thin enough not to affect the speakerphone volume at all. It was something I was concerned about initially, but I found it did not effect the volume or clarity

Re: Dyeing battery cover-(SPRINT) (Video of orange backing removed)

Wouldnt removing the orange backing leave the TP2 more susceptible to dust and pocket lint, and thus, potentially shortening the life of the device?

I am interested in trying this..purely for the sake of louder speaker volume, but im a little concerned about having all the [extra] open holes in the back of my phone.

Re: Dyeing battery cover-(SPRINT) (Video of orange backing removed)

The backing does not really provide enough water resistance to make a noticeable difference. You have to keep in mind there are plenty of other areas that are susceptible to moisture on the back of this phone. This includes; 2 speaker holes, mic hole, lanyard hole, stylus hole, 3.5mm jack, USB jack, and the volume buttons.

I thought the same, but at the same time I would think one of the benefits of doing this would be more ventilation for the device (when it runs hot) with more air holes opened, right?

I'm still debating on doing this also for the louder speaker volume benefit.

Re: Dyeing battery cover-(SPRINT) (Video of orange backing removed)

I have had no problems since removing mines. half the time i keep my pda in a small cloth pouch, the other half its directly in my pocket. i never noticed that the orange part was even covering the holes if it was i doubt completely any dust that was going to enter would have probably entered either way.as for speaker quality i hardly use it, i did it strickly for looks.
