ok guys got the msl and i can go in and change the prl and all that, but here's the thing, when i went to the metro store by me, houdini wouldn't recognize that the phone, would having the correct prl change that? if i understood the process correctly that's what it seems like. please let me know.

mike,I had the same problem.

to get houdini to "see" the phone, you gotta run a put the TP2 into diagnostic mode first. usually, the command is initiated by dialing ##DIAG (##3424) or ##3424# (depending on if you have vzw or sprint version of TP2. this command initiates a program called "DMROUTER". when DMROUTER is running, a different set of drivers are installed by winxp or vista when the TP2 is plugged into the USB.

by running dmrouter first before plugging the phone in, can you get houdini to see the phone.

however, I had a really hard time getting to this step. first off, my vzw tp2 didn't even have dmrouter, so I had to go on the forum searching for it. even after I copied onto the tp2, I couldn't run it. ##3424 wouldn't run it. so I had to take another further step and download another program called "nOpen" to run dmrouter. running nOpen allows you to select the program "dmrouter.exe" file to open, and also specify a command. the command to use is "\DIAG".

and, for me, I had run it twice, because for some reason, my vzw tp2 would only run dmrouter for 3 seconds the first time and then shut down the program. running dmrouter.exs using nOpen a second time, I was able to keep dmrouter running, plug in the USB cable, and get houdini to install the correct drivers.

run houdini normally like you would to try and find a htc diamond or diamond pro.

now, that was my first hurdle. houdini didn't automatically "see" which COM port was being used. we had to manually select each port present one by one by hand to find it, and on the last try, COM127 port, did houdini find the phone and clear the ESN.

once houdini runs thru and clears the ESN into the metropcs inventory, the rest is just regular programing of the phone, just like you would a vzw or sprint htc diamond.

ok thanks shagpal
i will try it later on this afternoon, hopefully the guy at the metro will be patient lol

also as far as the prl, is there any advantage or disavantage from using the 2001 or 2003 ? will the 2003 have anything relating to some ppl having problems with internet or mms?

Re: First Touch Pro2 on MetroPCS!

02003 is the latest PRL. use that. to update it, dial ##778 or ##778# to get into EPST. if you've unlocked your phone properly already, the MSL or security code you will enter is "000000".

after you've updated the PRL file, the phone will do a soft reset, and then dial *228, and it should be metropcs. select "2" to update that PRL list.

Hey again, thanks for the tips, i think the dmrouter thing might solve the issue, i did it on my computer at home and downloaded the drivers and it set it up. i saved the drivers to take em with me to the metro store in case they dont have em. leme tell u what happend, when dmrouter turned on it closed right away and i went to punch in the ##3424# again but i was like leme check and see if it's in the taskmanager under the open programs so i just clicked the lil arrow on the top right and it was there, i clicked on it, pluged it in and all is fine. the guy that's been helpin me is off shopping for black friday deals today so he didn't show up, there's a girl and she has no clue what to do, might have to wait longer but i think this should be the final step before officially flashing it.

on another note i did call Houdini and they said that they are working on the drivers and all that for the TP2 and they gave me this website to keep checking, http://helpdesk.houdinisoft.com/news.htm
the newest phone they added was the sprint htc hero and the person on the phone seemed very excited about it lol. i tried to get a release date but she said she didn't know because it was still under development.
i dont know how hard it is to get drivers if u ask me, specially since the hardware is pretty much the same as the touch pro 1
anyway hope this helps. i'll keep updating
