i actually get really smooth video playback on mine; youtube and mp4.

speaking of youtube, is there anyway to get better quality from the program, besides going into settings and changing the video quality to high quality?

okay that's not true at all
I have played on youtube anime parodies to even the highest of the high quality videos, and I didn't skip whatsoever
further I didn't skip when playing my ogm, mkv, avi files from core player, tcpmp, and these are files that skip and lag on my own computer.

We get it, you don't like it doesn't have 3d acceleration okay its run ad nauseum...
perhaps your experience differs than mine and others with the video quality, but mine is fantastic

yeah I agree...I'm not getting anywhere near as many skips as people are reporting...I'm only getting skips on BIG files I'm streaming from my desktop pc

I think video looks fantastic on this phone! I can't imagine who would have bought the TP2 and write a review like this one I found on Sprint PCS's website:

Youtube playback, fullscreen even on YouTube HD videos (that start life as 720p) I have had NO skips, just buttery smooth playback. Looks fantastic. Very little aspect crop as well coming from 1.77 to 1.67 (vs. something like an iPhone which has to go down to 1.5). Video's look damn near photorealistic.

Anyways here's some good ones, in 720p, HD. These are direct HD links, but just search for teh title in the HTC Youtube app and you'll find 'em

Anytime I want to show off my TP2's BEAUTIFUL screen I just open up CorePlayer & play either Transformers or Jurassic Park. I ripped the DVD's to DivX AVI format(700mb). They play flawlessly & look absolutely awesome. Then I flip up the screen & set it on my desk and its all over.

Anywho, I'm still trying to figure out how to downsize a video to the max resolution of the screen, have a decent framerate, and have the video not skip. Anyone know how to do this? And does it work with WMP?

I suggested this a while back on the TP1, and Titan threads - I use Super © (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html). It's free, easy to use, converts most any format to most any other format. Great program.

Hate to say it but this thread is a prime example of why I often hate this site. Out of the 25 posts so far in this thread, mine is the only one providing what the OP asked for - great youtube videos that can be shown to show off the phone. In fact I provided four... (Sorry, but to the person that posted a low quality 4:3 video of the Rock, that is by far a great video to show off, I mean if it's 4:3 it's instantly DQ'd... a few others said the transformers trailer without posting a link or the title of the video, which isn't helpful either)). The mods should really just go thru this thead and split off / delete anything that's OT. I realize this is a problem in general with forums and isn't specific to this site per se - but both the mods and the users could do better job of keeping things on topc. To the users: If you weren't going to post what the OP asked for... don't reply! Otherwise you're part of the problem! Anyone that replied only to refute Exil3d is giving that Troll exactly what he wanted. Ignore him and the problem is greatly reduced.

And they should ban Exil3d (heck his name implies it) - he doesn't even have a TP2, he's trolling these forums, and he's posting downright incorrect and inflammatory information; his post in this thread re: YouTube skipping is a perfect example of that. That is literally a problem that doesn't exist and is BS.

I'm reporting my own post in hopes the Mods will review this.

honestly, I do want great videos to show off to people, but I don't mind a little off topic here and there. certainly don't need anyone spouting off negative fake reviews of the phone, though

really, I was going to ask if anyone had any advice on getting my original HTC youtube player back...I mistakenly installed the web version from google and it overwrote my HTC version. I uninstalled it but the original was never the same. I can play videos fine, I have everything in place when it comes to portrait, but forget about typing with the keyboard during search results, the app screen does not rotate and I only get the text box in landscape. I tried installing the ripped version I found on XPA but that's how far it got me

If you really want to see some HD eye candy. Search "Photron SA2". Check out the owl, water balloons and every other video. SA2 is a sick camera.

While not specific for TP2 - this is a good video to have bookmarked... just sit and stare at the middle for about 45 seconds, try not to blink, look away etc. Then look at anything and...

I'm trying to go pretty far without the hard-reset. Thought I might have had to in order to get my Bluetooth back, but this forum stepped it right up. I'm hoping for a nice HTC YouTube install soon from XDA
