Re: GPS location tracker? I remember seeing one...
I am also looking for a GPS logger. I like to get on my bicycle and just go. It would be nice to save a trip for future reference.

Re: GPS location tracker? I remember seeing one...
For more casual use GPS Tracking, I'm using Google Latitude and the API access from Google -- for example I have a tracking application for our next big hike event in October, combined with KML display. This lets our friends and family know where we are on the hike without much effort on my part.
The nice thing about using Latitude is that I can drop it down to cell-tower location and save my battery life for the hike. But this is useless if you're looking for GPS accurate tracklog info (bring an extra battery!) Google Latitude: http://m.google.com/latitude The tracker website I built: http://torontogeocaching.com/bthike SkyFire works great for checking if my update went through, as Google Maps displays properly in that browser. |

I think this is what your looking for
http://gpstracka.codeplex.com/ Simple straight up GPS to log file at specified interval. Then you can put it into Google earth( kml) or GPX. I've used it to track bike rides and its perfect. Its much easier on the battery than sportypal is. |

Re: GPS location tracker? I remember seeing one...
I've used trackme for a little more than one year now as mentioned by Vegasden on post #6 (from Vogue ... to Touch Pro 2). It works really well to track my hiking/bicycling activity. It also uploads the kml data to the web (I run my own tracker website based on PHP code supplied). Combined with some other freeware out there I've used this to phototag my camera taken picture as well ...
Trackme also has a nice feature to run in background without running the GPS all the time (Not a battery hog). You can set it up so that it send your cellphone location in case it is missing through an 'SMS keyword'. The location can be sent as an e-mail or sms. Admittedly, you have to do some setup on the software but it is the most powerful GPS software for WinMo nowadays (IMHO)... |
