Issue with face dialing
I keep having a problem of dialing new calls with my face while I'm on the phone. I'll be mid call and all of a sudden I'm dialing someone else's number and cutoff the person I was just talking to.
Is there someway to lock the screen while in a call so I have to use a slider before accessing any other call functions? I thought the prox sensor was supposed to turn the screen off when the phone is against your head. Maybe after all these years I just don't know ow to hold a phone to my head. :???: |
Re: Issue with face dialing
yours doesn't turn the screen off when you put it to your ear? weird. sorry i don't have the answer. I don't see anything in the phone settings either.

Re: Issue with face dialing
can you press the power button to shut off the screen like you can on the TP?

Re: Issue with face dialing
I'm pretty sure PockeShield can be set to prevent these problems.

Re: Issue with face dialing
I thought I saw a flag to enable/disable this... so that the screen blanks when you hold it up, ie: to your ear; and resumes the screen when you hold it palmed. (face up).
I'm not finding it now, but perhaps someone else remembers... or you might.. *cringe* try calling tech suppt... |
Re: Issue with face dialing
Thanks to all who replied. I will consider PocketShield if all else fails but I'd like to think that there would be something built in to the phone to prevent this.
Does anyone know if there is something in the settings to disable this? Or should I just go get PocketShield? |
Re: Issue with face dialing
Uhh the phone should have a proximity sensor. Mine blacks out by itself when its near my cheek and lights back up when I pull it away. You have a screen protector on it they may be interfering?

Re: Issue with face dialing
I have the stock screen protector on and the proximity sensor works for me. To test, make a call and place your hand against the top left of the face of the phone (above the screen between "HTC" and the speaker) and my screen turns off. BTW, the proximity sensor is only active while actively in a call.
On my TP1 I got in the habit of pressing the power button to turn off the screen when in a call, and if I needed to turn the screen back on, just press it again. |
Re: Issue with face dialing
You guys have obviously disabled your proximity sensor somehow with hacks or programs you've installed if it's not shutting off automatically. So the question is... what have you installed and what have you tweaked?
