How many are having in-call issue's?
Judging from the number of people whose TP2's are getting stuck in 1x, I thought I'd bring up another issue I'm having. This is my third TP2 from Verizon and still the same issue's. Call's getting dropped and people unable to hear me. This is occurring in area's where I am certain I have good coverage, places where my Titan never had an issue placing calls.

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I haven't had any problems with dropped calls or call quality, but I was just reading the reviews on Verizon's website - sorted lowest to highest - and a lot of people that gave low ratings reported this as a problem.

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
i'm sorry i voted no problems at all, this seems to be a verizon related problem. Most on the sprint tp2 have not experienced this problem, including myself.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
Well just to be clear, there aren't any previous threads of people complaining about this on Verizon either.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I actually got better service with the TP2 than TP1. I even get service where I didn't before. But I maybe lucky

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
Yes and that thread is full of posts from yours truly. It's not the same thing as dropped calls, and call quality though. And if you read that thread, you'll see some Sprint users reporting the same issue.

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
Try disabling roaming.. ive seen calls drop before from being just on the edge of a weak home signal and switching to roaming and dropping the call.

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I'm having issues with my TP2 on verizon.. areas where i should be receiving a strong signal I have no signal at all. When i first got my phone i was able to use it inside where i worked.. now it just searches for a signal even when im standing outside of where i worked. I'm taking my phone into verizon this evening to have a tech look at it.. if they cant figure out whats wrong and dont let me replace it with another... sadly I'll be goin with a Tour

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I just had another call drop out when I had full service, absolutely ridiculous. Called Verizon and spent 30 minutes on call, there aren't any TP2's available other than two refurbs 45 minutes from me.
It seems there are three others experiencing similar issues as myself (judging from the poll). I'd love to have them post with their experiences to see if theyre similar to mine. |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I have not had any issues with mine, even in my basement. My wife has not experienced any issues with hers, either.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
Only 1 week in, but stellar call quality, no drops at all. I hope this issue
doesn't crop up later. |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
No issues on mine. I find that my reception is quite a bit better than my TP1 and the calls are much clearer.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
No problems on either tp2 I have.

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I'm beginning to think this is a microphone and not a network issue. When I'm talking on speakerphone (which uses a second microphone, correct?) there are no issue's, but when using the earpiece people on the other end either hear nothing or static. Before you ask, no my finger is not over the microphone, lol.
I'd have a fourth one sent out to me but Verizon is all out, with no ETA of when they'll have more. I am on their callback list for when more come in, but I'm not really expecting them to call when they do arrive in stock. This bugs me because not only am I unable to talk with the phone, but according to the girl in technical support, since they can't see on their end the issue's during the call like they can with a call drop (which supposedly they can see on their system), they won't give me a credit. Time to complain and get nasty. This is my third TP2 in two weeks and all have been fatally flawed. |

Why don't you just take it in and get it looked at? Does VZW not allow that. Can't they just look at the mic or anything else. Cuz 3 TP2 already in 2 weeks and these are BRAND NEW something is wrong here. Either you got horrible, horrible luck or just really not happy with the TP2. |

I assure you I'm not one of those picky, fussy people who returns phones for little things. The first TP2 had a loud crackle on the earpiece, and if I remember correctly (all these issue's are blending together) it dropped calls frequently. It also had horrible battery life, the two I have had since are much better. The second had 10-15 stuck pixels all over the screen, it was so obvious that I never bothered making a test call, I just packed it up and had another one sent. This one is having microphone/network issue's on every other call, the other party hears either silence or static. These aren't subjective facts, they would be clearly obvious to anyone else. So I must have really had bad luck this time around, because now I'll have to wait god knows how long to get a replacement. The guy in the thread below is having a similar issue, although for me when the sound cuts off for the other party it will last indefinately, and calling back does not fix the issue. http://forums.t-mobile.com/tmbl/boar...thread.id=1861 I've also noticed that the sound will sometimes cut off on my end when I call someone, i.e. I cannot hear anything, and that when my phone rings from an incoming call the earpiece will play the ringtone instead of the speakers. Strange issue's indeed. Any chance that a hard reset may fix this? I guess to answer that question you'd have to know what's causing this problem. EDIT: I take back what I said. They do have technicians in stores, albeit only certain stores. I called and pushed on the matter, the nearest one is about half an hour from my campus, so I'll go friday after class and see what they can do. Who knows, at this point it's my best shot :( |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I think I may have figured it out. When restoring a backup of my contacts with PIM backup I've gotten cprog.exe errors, which is the dialer. I'm wondering if that could in turn have screwed up the dialer when I was in calls, resulting in the other party being unable to hear me.
Just a hunch... |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
Issue just came back after a hard reset and not backing up the speed dials.
Could the 5 other people who voted yes for the other caller unable to hear me please post. |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I am coming from a samsung i760 and live in washington dc metropolitan area. I dont drop calls but my signal is not as strong as the i760. It gets stuck on 1x alot more. Also when i am listening to online radio it buffers alot. The I760 didnt have that issue.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
none of the above
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I'm good call quality/dropped calls wise. Just have the 1X stuck issue.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
For any still dealing with this issue, I was also dropping calls at my office, (where my titan did not). I spoke with a tech who verified the signal strength in my locale was solid. I just switched my phone from global to CDMA only, and had no drops on my test call. The signal bars drop to 1 in spots, but that's consistant with my Titan's radio performance. Hope it helps.

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
i have to say every gripe i had with TP1 went away with the TP2. much better call quality, usually only dropped calls i get are when on the edge of sprints network and if the phone switches to roaming while talking ,it drops. i have started keeping the phone setting on home only. this doesn't completely solve the prob, but it helps.

Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I think "There's a map for that"
lol. I have a Sprint TP2 and have had no problems with the phone service... The only problems I had were caused by me when I installed and uninstalled s2u2 and then installed and uninstalled pocket shield. My phone features were all messed up. But no dropped calls or anything like that. Then I did a hard reset and all is well. Just sharing. p. |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
yea when you install pocketshield you want to disable the phone options of it
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
Once in a while I have it where the other person can't hear me unless I talk towards the back of the phone. I think the phone thinks I'm on a speakerphone call or something. After a soft reset the problem goes away though.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I've had an issue (also my friend who has TP2) where you can not hang up a phone call when done. At least on the screen the icon that shows in call stays on, I am not sure if the call actually ended.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
no issues at all with mine.
|
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I also have the issue where occasionally im talking and all of the sudden the other party cant hear me.. if i "switch ears" then suddenly hear me.. i think it has to do with the mic and perhaps the "reduce noise in phone calls" option being set to automatic.
Gonna switch it to never and see if i have the problem again |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
Several times a week I am on the phone talking to my wife who also has a TP2. As we are talking the volume of her voice almost disappears. I can hear that she said something and I can tell she is talking in a normal tone of voice, but I can't make out what she is saying because it is coming through way too quietly like she is talking from extremely far away.
I get her to move the phone around a bit or move her hand. Sometimes that does the trick and other times I just wait and she "comes back without doing anything. Sometimes I hang up and call her right back. All three have been known to resolve this issue. Sometimes the first two don't work at all and I just have to hang up and call her back. I have not been able to tie it to soft resets either. This has happened to me when I talk to someone else where they can't hear me for a moment. I have never had this happen while I am on my bluetooth handsfree car system. The times I've had it happen to me or my wife have usually involved my AirAve so I can't tell if that is part of the problem or not. I have checked the ping/latency times to the VOIP server that the AirAve communicates with and haven't seen any packet loss or any abnormal latency involved, but I can't rule it out because I have only been able to check that a few times when it was actively happening. |
Re: How many are having in-call issue's?
I have the problem with people no hearing me. I've found that muting and unmuting the phone fixes the problem. I think there is a problem with the mute button sticking and muting the phone even though it not showing on.
