Remote Desktop Connection Still not working.... need help

Ok i have been trouble shooting this almost every waking moment for the past 7 days. I have had no results... i even got no results with linksys live chat techs. so i am turning to you guys in hopes that someone can shed some light on my situaion.

Basic info.
Touch pro 2
Dektop running Vista Home Premium SP1
Lap top Running Vista Home Basic SP1
Linksys WRT54G v5 latest firmware updated

The laptop Connects through WiFi to the router and it DHCP
The Desktop is Connected to the router.

I am trying to connect to my desktop from my TP2

Here is a picture of my settings as is right now. People keep telling me to try settings i have allready done and to check things i have told them i have checked like they dont believe me so i am including this picture so there is no second guessing.

Obviously I have tried many variations but nothing has worked... IF anyone could look ant tell me whats right and whats wrong i would be very grateful. I really need to get this going and i have been at it non stop to no avail. I cant even get this to work by tring to use my laptop to connect and its on the same network. i tried my static IP i tried my external IP (double checked online) i even set up a DYNDNS and that didnt work. Someone please help. :(

I have no experience using RDP but know my way around a network.

The error is you are sending windows login credentials to your router's IP and not the computer.

I'm not to sure how to solve this. Thinking about it...you may need to port forward.

Ya I agree leave domain blank, it is unnecessary.
Somewhere in advance setting on the router will be something on port forwarding. Assuming 3389 is the correct port, forward tcp/udb to the computer's ip you wish to log in to.

Also I noticed an error. Your routers default gateway isn't the same as the default gateway of your computer.
I use 192.168.100.1 for my default and allow 192.168.100.2-.9 for my computers or if a friend stops by.

I have DMZ (DeMaterializedZone) on, this opens ALL ports and forwards them to my static IP. I did try only forwarding that port to my static IP (one of the first things i tried) and it didnt work. I have also tried leaving the Domain name blank and nothing.

So my default gateway should be set as 192.168.100.1 ?
or how would i find what my default gateway should be? ipconfig?

Well if your DMZ forwarding to your computer (192.168.1.5) it doesn't matter since your router(98.xxx.xxx.1) and computer(192.168.1.1) are on different gateways.

So change your router gateway to 192.168.1.1 and it should work.

I should mention you shouldn't DMZ permanently. Once you get this thing working go to run, type cmd, type netstat and figure out which port the program is opwning and only forward that one.

no no go back
set router gateway to 192.168.1.1
on computer tcp/ip set your ip to 192.168.1.5 and your gateway 192.168.1.1

yeah i dont plan on leaving DMZ on i was just taking it down to bare bones to see where the problem lies. then work backwards turning on certain security features one by one to see wich one stops it from working then fixing it from there.

let me try to change my router gateway and let you know what happens
