The GSM radio on the phone will only work when you're aboard. You can only use it internationally. A bunch of people have tried using it with an at&t sim card but it just doesn't work. It might get hacked though, only time will tell us that :)

Does anyone know if it's hardware based switch or is it controlled by the software? If it's software, I expect it to be cracked by year's end at the latest!

I might be off to Moscow, Russia soon but I don't have myself a TP2 yet. I was just curious about its abilities. I wish I had lots of money!! Ugh.

I've been curious about this as well. I have Sprint myself so I'd obviously be using CDMA here in the states. If I ever needed to roam, I could use the Verizon network. But, does this phone allow you to roam on domestic GSM signals as well? Or does it only activate GSM when you're not in the states anymore? That'd be amazing if you could roam on both signal types!

It would be pretty cool if you could do both but unfortunately its either one or another not both. So being on sprint, there wont be anyway possible to use att or tmobile to roam only another cdma carrier like verizon, just like there won't be any way for an att user or tmobile user to roam on sprint or verizon networks.
