I've dealt with this, and it's not as easy as it seems (Sprint). The Advanced Config Tool vs. 3.3 can only remap the left softkey, and you have to do things goofy to make it work. I think Mighty Mike figured this one out, and my use of the SEARCH function found it, and applied it, and have made posts similar to this several times, but here goes again.

Here is my Home Screen (notice the left softkey)

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...1&d=1254556047

Here is what I put in the Advanced Config Tool under Key Mapping

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...1&d=1254556053

Notice I had to put the link for the program for the left softkey in the right softkey link box. Nothing you do will take away the Contacts from coming up when you press the right softkey, and if you don't enter the left softkey link in the right softkey link box, it won't work.

Clear as mud, right?

Sweet, I been trying to get this to work for a couple of days now before i found this post.....weird **** to have to set the same path in the left and right and rename the right back to contacts...but whatever works great, got the right key for the app i use the most and loving it.....Thx double time.....

why make it hard

Change softkeys on "Today" screen

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\keys\112 for left
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\keys\113 for right
You may not have a 113, but you can just make the 113 identical to 112 and change the "open" command. The value for "Default" controls what is displayed on the screen

For Sprint, yes. You can only change the left one. Verizon users seem to be able to change the left & right just fine with that "Softkey Manager" program.

Any update on changing the right key yet on Sprint? Thanks

what I posted above works like a charm.

you have to put the full path in and most apps are in windows\startmenu\programs\contacts.lnk

and you have to spell everything correct. most are .lnk

left and right work like a charm

The Softkey manager seems to work fine for me on my Sprint TP2. Just enabled diamond mode, did my changes, saved, soft reset.

Same as on the TP.

If so, you are the only one and will be showered with gratitude if you post a cab or link. I suggest you test out the right softkey first.

This problem is exclusive to Sprint w/TF3D users. I assume you're not on Sprint or don't use TF3D, because this tek doesn't work.

As stated earlier there is no fix for Sprint, but you can achieve the effect of rewriting both by writing both displays. Setting the left link & command to what you want to open (not display). Then use SSMaHo to change the right softkey (which will still go to contacts) to whatever program you want.

The only downside to this is clicking on all contacts in the people tab will go to the right softkey program rather than all contacts. However you can still get to all contacts by clicking on call history from the home page.

not sure if you mean changing the "name" on the rsk and not the action. if so i achevied this by using the advanc config program that i had on my diamond. i have the name changed but the action activates the contacts still. wasn't knocking anyones attempts of changing the key or attempts at helping someone.
