This came shipped from HTC broken pretty much. From what I see EVERYONE has it if they would just look for them. I think if everyone submitted a ticket it may do good. I just hope new ones wont keep poping up until next thing you know half your screen is full of them. I found a new one today. Idk I just hope it wont get too bad. I think I may wait a week and then submit a email to htc and (cough cough) get HELP from a verizon rep... >.<

80 people who don't have it beg to differ with you.

I believe all 80 of those 80 people need glasses.

I agree too. If not all of them have it then ok w/e

But i really do believe if they don't now they will soon. maybe not today or tomorrow but it will happen. Its a nice defect shipped straight to me from verizon... a wonderful new... out of the box... dead pixels... yay.

I really think it could be a recall if enough complained.

PS: but even so... its 60 percent.. so almost half of the devices have this defect...
So, i did say everyone... meh. so many smarty pants.

I wonder if the GSM version of the TP are plagued with these stuck/dead pixels

people are unlikely to participate in a poll that is in a thread about an issue that doesn't affect them so it is wildly speculative to extrapolate the results the way you have. This poll is meaningless in determining a failure rate.

My first Verizon Touch Pro 2 had numerous stuck pixels scattered across the screen which showed up very well on a black background. The replacement has only 1 stuck pixel using the same test and it's out of the way near the top edge of the screen.

I can't see it otherwise during normal use.

Maybe so but rightfully so it just ticks me off to pay so much for a device that comes broken right out of the box.
And this poll is all we have to work with.

Just a note...

I had 2 frozen pixels when I got my phone. Interestingly, they were the absolute bottom corners (left and right, 1 each)

They were white when I started my phone for the first time. After a soft-reset, though, they started to function properly.

After doing the camera test in a dark room I found at least 8 stuck pixels, not sure if they are considered stuck or dead if they're white. Never noticed the pixels during normal use but i have noticed two small areas in the middle of the screen when looking at a white background appear blue. The blue spots I have noticed during normal use. With Verizon being out of stock should I even attempt to get a replacement?

This is what i was wondering. I heard a few posts back one guy sent his back in for a new one and the replacement had 1 or 2. So it would be luck.

Is it really that much to ask that with a $600 device, HTC puts some quality parts in it??

Every upgraded model seems to fix a lot of problems but introduces a lot more.

"Okay so we've fixed the overheating, keyboard malfunctions for the most part, and upgraded the build quality significantly, but we've also come across cheaper LCD screens! let's use them before testing them and hope for the best!"

I agree with the fact that the people who have no issues need glasses, even though I'm on that list, lol.

I didn't see any until I turned the brightness all the way up on the black background test. They were also visible in the camera test in a dark room because I think using the camera makes the screen brightness go to full automatically. That's the only thing I can think of that would make that possible.

My first one had at LEAST 25 stuck pixels. That was way too extreme for me, and I returned it. Just ordered a new one today, so we'll see how that goes. I don't mind if I have a couple, as long as I can't see them during normal use.

Sorry to hear you had dead pixels too.
Can you do the same test to the new device your getting back? Make sure those pixels arent dead either and report back please? Thanks!

I just don't get it...
My wife and I order 2 VZW TP2's the day they were released. We get them in, and BOTH phones have 5-10 stuck pixels. At least 2 are fairly large. 2 Co-Workers order the VZW TP2's and both of them have stuck pixels too. I finally get sick of them, so we call verizon and they ship us out 2 brand new ones 2 days ago. We test them, and mine is worse then the first one!!!!!! My wife's is about the same. This is insane, I have yet to see a TP2 that doesn't have any. Out of the 6 I have seen they all are bad. I am sooo discouraged right now and don't know what to do. I LOVE the phone otherwise.

Accepting this crap is ridiculous imo. If I purchased a Monitor and it looked like this I would take it right back. I would call Verizon again and have them ship more (assuming they actually had any) but I have ZERO confidence that they will be any different.

Im going on phone number 5...booooo. I even went to 3 dealers and every single one of their units (powered up at least 9 total) had dead, stuck or hot pixels. I had to take the best of them with 2 or 3 dead ones. Man I hope a new batch will come to the store before my 30 days is up...Ill post results when I can finally find a perfect one.

Just got my second one in today, and it's good enough for me. I have maybe 4 or 5 stuck pixels at most, which all but 1 are only viewable at a certain angle.

Beats the 25+ I had with my first TP2. I love this phone too much to care about a couple stuck pixels out of 384,000 that I can only see in the camera app or on a black screen with full brightness.

Really, it's never noticeable. The only time I see them is when I REALLY look for them on a dark screen with full brightness. Other than that, they're completely invisible. It doesn't bother me at all, to be honest...and I am not one to usually "accept" bad quality.

ok i gone through 3 TP2 and all 3 of them had stuck pixels ONLY visible during the camera test and the black background test on full brightness.

i just decided to live with it.
minor hassle for a nice phone.

I counted about 7-8 stuck pixels in my screen, none of them noticeable under normal use & all but one only visible at an angle if I take my contacts out & stare REALLY close. My old iPaq hx4705 had stuck pixels too. It's annoying but not that huge of a deal to me. I probably won't exchange it unless a bunch more die or they become really obvious, cause a new tp2 with a few stuck pixels is better than a refurb, IMO.

I got a new TP 2 and I see like 3 very tiny white points, and one tiny blue i believe, may be ill need a microscope... but anyway what is the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel? they are so small that if I don't read this post I think ill never notice it lol.
