Re: Copy And Paste On Touch Pro 2

Its somewhat hard to select a few words when the CTRL button is the Mail button. Because the Shift button is diagonally away.

Is it possible to change the FN button to Ctrl
and the MAIL button to FN?

Bottom line though is unless you have an hd2 there's no way you can do cntrl+v with the virtual keyboard. Cntrl, yes, but not cntrl v.

Wait, does it follow a set key presses? Is that what you're saying? Like instead of holding them down together, you just hit cntrl, then hit v and it pastes?

Yep, try it and see. Tap CTL, and it stays "down" (shaded). Then tap V -- a paste occurs and the CTL key goes back to normal.

But this works for all Shift, CTL and Shift-CTL combinations .. it's not just about cut, copy, and paste.
:)

BTW .. that particular SIP has some other cool features too: the format in my screenshot is configured for "small keys" which displays the number keys with the letter keys (the way i like it), but if you select "large keys" then you get a further number keypad and more just one extra click away using the 123 key.

But wait there's more ..
  • you can drag UP on a letter and it will be typed in uppercase.
  • drag LEFT anywhere on the keypad and it does a backspace (delete).
  • drag RIGHT and it inserts a space.
  • drag DOWN and it presses ENTER.
Try it and see.

Ok, see I was confused by "Cntrl + v" lol. "cntrl then v" makes more sense :)

I'm so used to doing the two keys at the same time and seeing it represented as cntrl + v.

I am using the same ROM, but do not have any problems with the volume. Perhaps you have something else installed that is interfering ?

Do you have the latest version (v1.4) from the XDA website? That is the one I am using.

Do not use an XML file from a previous version. I found that my old XML file was not compatible and screwed up a bunch of keys. I had to redo all the key assignments.

Did you install the key/cert file before installing the keyboard?

There is something particular to your phone that is causing the problem, as I am using the same ROM and the v1.4 Rhodium keyboard and it is working well.

Any key that I programmed a "long press" action for, I had to go back and program the single click to perform the "Default Action" function. That way the key would work normally when pressed, but would do something different for a long press.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else to tell ya.

Ok i guess everyone else missed this... but you CAN select text in text messages WITHOUT having to go to menu and turning select text on...

Here's how:
It's not like before where you instantly start selecting. Now, you press and hold where you want to start highlighting... Wait until you start seeing the lil animation (before the select all context menu pops up), then start dragging over text. after that, simply hold the selection for the copy menu. Simple! Hope this helps.

By the way, this works in emails too

I personally like this more because it makes scrolling through the threaded texts much easier.

I was so excited when I saw this post, however it doesn't seem to work for me. Did you try this in Windows Mobile 6.5?

I am not sure if you got your answer yet, however it looks like this question came up way back when (post #18).

I believe the posts below were referring to some options for Messanger:
#19:
FingerKeyboard has a copy and paste function which works really well. It is, IMO, a much better alternative than switching back & forth to the default WM keyboard solely for this purpose.
#21: So does Touchpal (I use version 3.5, the new 4.0 sucks IMHO).

I never use the hardware KB, TouchPal has more useful functions & is 50 times faster than a hardware KB if you use the T+ function........

Hope this works for you....
