I am having the same issue (and never been with sprint). I started a thread here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=84993

i have talked with tier 2 and tier 3; performed several hard resets; re-programmed (*228 option 1); updated towers and firmware (*228 option 2).

usually, some combination results in an apparent solution, only to revert by to 1x.

One other thing 8, I DID have 1 = Authenticated but was still stuck in 1X. It was interesting...

I got into the HDR viewer and noticed I just had the numbers 221= 221 = 221, etc... and as I'm sitting there looking at all the settings it just spontaneously switched to 1 = Authenticated. I check back up top and it's still 1X so I thought maybe if I surfed a little (like you had to with the Sprint TP1) it would then get back into 3G. Nope, never did. So I soft-reset to see if that had an effect, nope. Got back into HDR and notice I have the numbers back but now they're 331 = 331 = 331 = 331 etc... and AGAIN it changes to say 1 = Authenticated. Still couldn't get back into 3G. Thought that was weird. Finally did get it back hours and many resets later.

So the fact that I had 1 = Authenticated but was still stuck in 1X.... seems to suggest to me there is definitely a hardware/software issue with the phone and that network authentication is not the problem (not the main one anyway).

Count me in as one who has this issue from time to time as well. Hopefully there's a simple fix, or this phone might be going back before the 30 days.

Yeah that is interesting. Do you remember if the network had assigned you an IP address or not. Nonetheless, I haven't had this issue pop up again since level 3 opened the ticket for me. Maybe it's been fixed for me.

Yeah I had an IP assigned as well.

It hasn't come up for me since Saturday night *knocks on wood* but we'll see.

Just curious if you guys have gone into your network settings and re-entered your username, password, etc. Verizon= 10digitnumber @ vzw3g.com and then vzw for password. Sometimes just simply re-entering that information is enough to kick things back in.?!

On this phone all of those fields should be blank. It uses the username and password setting in EPST to authenticate to the network.

I'm thinking my issue is fixed. I've been good now since Friday night.

Correct, it uses the settings from EPST. However, entering them in where I mentioned, will push through and update it. The settings will change, however, it will always appear blank, every time you check them.

Just a suggestion.

No problem, I know it has helped me in the past, when I had connection issues on previous WinMo devices. Just thought It's worth a shot. I know how frustrating it can be to bounce in and out of a usable data connection.

Glad to hear yours has been doing better without doing this, hope it stays strong for you.
