technically it would be possible to have this running, then minimize this and open an incoming stream from another user on a computer with a webcam running orb, and have a 2 way conversation in a slightly delayed real time.

I tried something like this a couple of years ago:

The problem was, as it still remains, that the camera is on the REVERSE side of the screen. Which means, its only semi-useful with a mirror handy. ..

Mine says connected, but won't actually show anything on qik.com... Anyone?

It will say connected even when you arent streaming. Connected just means that when you do decide to record, it will then be live on QIk.com. When it says not connected, its still recoerding but not streaming to the site and can be uploaded later.

I read in another forum that the reason the frame rate is so poor is because HTC does not give direct access to the video API, and the API they can use from HTC only supports 5FPS. So blame HTC, not QIK.

Anyone have any idea whether there are any issues with long live streams? I played with it for a few minutes and it seemed to have some delay and shut off when my phone went into standby, but I haven't fully tested yet. I would like to be able to watch a movie at my neighbors and have my phone streaming to show the baby on Qik so I know if he wakes up or starts crying then I can run home. Or are there any other better options for this?

Get a network webcam that you can watch from your phone instead. Then if you get dropped you can just re-join/connect. BTW, I'm not sure how legal this is, should your house catch fire.
