sprint sucks
I called them up today to order a Tp2 and they pretty much said nope. I have 2 lines with them and been with them for 6 years. only thing they would do for me is do it on my second line for the regular discount price. And i'm on my 4th TP1 phone because of the keyboard issues. they would even knock off a dollar. **** them i'm calling ATT and Verizon up monday and see what they can do.

Re: sprint sucks
Before calling att and verizon... Call retention directly and say your going to verizon for the TP2. ( am sure they will do something since your a 6yr customer)..

Re: sprint sucks
im pretty sure sprint has to give you a new phone after you have 3 replacements in 90 days, at least verizon does, i will be getting the tp2 for free because of this when my screen completly dies [it has that oily substance under the screen]. Call them back and ask about this, seems like not every rep knows.

Re: sprint sucks
i think he's looking for a free phone... which he probably won't get unless he's not on contract

I understand why they took this position since they're really not "obligated" to give me anything except what is defined in my insurance plan. Looking back, I think consistently looking for a discount/handout from Sprint was a fruitless effort. |
Re: sprint sucks
Sprint does not suck, they just aren't trying to give you a phone for $50.
|
Re: sprint sucks
if ur out of contract they have incentive to keep you happy with an exchange. otherwise they're a business just like everyone else. if you asked for any other phone besides the one they just released, i bet they'd be more than willing to help you.
Anyway, 6 years and only two lines is nothing... try them again when you're at 10 years 4 lines ;) |
Re: sprint sucks
And no other carrier will likely give you a free phone whenever you want either. Its all about compromise and talking to the right rep the right way. Ive found sprint to be the best out of all the other carriers for willingness to work with you. Call a diff rep or retention and then just be willing to follow through with a threat to cancel. I myself just added a new line and got my tp2 for 49.99 and I then sold the replacement touch pro I got today (keyboard issue replacement) for 100 and got someone to pay 40 dollars a month for that additional line. So win win for me. Look at all the different options available. I think staying with sprint regardless of how many touch pros you go through is a way better option than going with crappy verizon or att.
Good luck with everything |
Re: sprint sucks
Sprint pays full price for these phones by the way. Seriously though, call them ask for the $150 rebate and a $100 mail in rebate. Tell them you dont want to be all mean you just want that rate for this phone and you will gladly stay with sprint and continue to be a happy customer. If they cant meet your demands apparently verizon is offering the phone for $150. Good luck getting a cell plan thats as cheap as your sprints and good luck getting a phoned employee to be nice to you from what I hear.

Re: sprint sucks
not looking for a free phone. i just think its pretty messed up that sprint won't even match verizon price for a phone when I had to take it back the the sprint store to get it replaced 3 times. i would have no problem paying 200-250 for the phone but 350 plus activation when the tp1 had a keyboard issue is messed up.

Re: sprint sucks
I am in exactly the same boat (6 years, contract up, 3 lines and a Mogul). What rates are you guys getting for plans? Verizon offered me the phone for $199, 2 lines and 700 minutes for $70 and $10 for a third line and $30 for data on one line.l This totals $110/month and they will take off 15% for my University connection (or AAA). So this is about $95. I was grandfathered in at $5 for the data in the past with Sprint. They now want to charge me $30. They never get back to me. T-Mobile is even cheaper as is ATT, iPhone included. What is wrong with Sprint? They cannot say their network is better than Verizon!

Re: sprint sucks

Re: sprint sucks
Couldn't agree more. Why is it when a new phone comes out, people think they should get that phone because their old phone isn't working. Well why did you keep it so long if it has never worked correctly for you?
Come on people, Sprint is a business which is trying to make a profit just like every other business. If you owned Sprint, you would not be giving out free phones everytime a new model gets released. If you didn't like your current phone, you've had plenty of time to complain and try another model. Now that there is a new phone, its kind of obvious your intentions. |

Re: sprint sucks
I'm not sure where Sprint gets off charging so much for the TP2, how on earth can they justify that??
As far as comparing Sprint & VZ monthly fees, that is like apples & oranges. I have had both over the years, you go with Sprint to save money or you go with Verizon for the best network coverage (& there is a difference). Sure, a Sprint phone can roam off a VZ tower but it's not even close to the "same thing". ~John |
Re: sprint sucks
You could always do what I did....EBAY
$505 and no contract extension. Got it today, now need to activate it. Only option I had, while keeping my plan. I had a Treo 700p and the wouldn't budge and didn't care. |
Re: sprint sucks
maybe htc has been disappointing them too, so they don't want to subsidize as much and would rather hook ppl up with a pre or any of their other 'smart' phones (smart basically means advanced input keyboard/touchscreen)
data brought me here, and keeps me. I believe sprint is the only company that has NO walled gardens. |

Last time I checked there were a lot more sprint users on the Touch Pro than on Verizon's Touch Pro. Maybe because it was crippled or maybe because Sprint has more to offer...for a much better price. |
Re: sprint sucks, Give this a try...
I purchased my Touch Pro on 4/18/09. On September 7, 2009 (Monday) my screen went blank. I went to a service sprint store and assumed they would simply swap it out for a new one since I was under warranty, and the issue was no fault of my own. The store manager told me the store did not have any TPs to replace my broke one. He did however place an order under Asurium to get me a refurb replacement. He explained I would have it in 2 to 3 business days and could come back to the store to pick it up. I was ok with this at the time.
When I returned in 3 days my phone had not been delivered and they told me it had been put on back order and I would have to return in 3 more business days. I was not pleased with this but figured oh well 3 more days wont kill me and Ill just activate my old Treo 800w in the mean while. I tried to solve the problem this way and make it easy for everyone. I did however request a battery for my 800 because the one I had did not work any more. He claimed he did not have any spare batteries (he didn’t even check) and told me to buy a battery. I thought he lacked interest in helping me resolve the issue and was very rude. I was simply trying to solve the issue in the mean while until I got my phone back. When I got home I called sprint and asked to speak to a customer care manager who after some resistance granted me a $25 dollar credit for the store mangers lack of service and the fact that I went without a phone for 6 days. I received my refurb on Sept 12, 09 and by the 15th the refurbished TPs screen died again. This morning I called sprint, told them my situation, and got connected to retentions. I spoke to a regular retentions rep who understood my problem but could not do anything at his level. He then connected me with a retentions manager. I explained to her that I was an 8 year sprint customer who is also a premier customer. I also told her that my last 3 phones from sprint have been the 700wx, 800w, and the Touch Pro. I told her that I did not think it was unacceptable to continue to receive faulty refurbished TPs ( some people are on their 5th or 6th refurbished TP). I also told her my average monthly bill is $150 for 2 lines on the everything plan. Bottom line this was unacceptable, sprint would loose money by constantly sending me refurbished TP's, and for crediting me $25 every time I was unsatisfied with their level of service. I then asked her to simply send me a BRAND NEW TP to end this dilemma or upgrade me to a TP2, which I then told her was what I really wanted (rather than having another TP break on me). I explained to her that while I really enjoyed the TP we both new that it was not the most stable phone with its ongoing screen and keyboard issues. She agreed and I got it for FREE! I would have paid $100 for it (which still would have been sweet!) however sprint mistakenly denied my original $100 mail in rebate on my TP. So she corrected that and the final price was $0. Its coming in tomorrow through UPS. Ill have a $149.99 balance on my account and when they receive my currently broken TP they will recredit the $149.00. Leaving me a $0 dollar balance. I wrote this to help out those who may be in my same position and think its unfair since most of the refurbs are faulty and break within days or weeks of delivery. I hope this helps some of you validly argue your point. Keep in mind that being polite and cheerful even though your P-off will benefit you greatly in the end. Here is a link from sprint users that also helped me construct a better argument. I even went as far as to tell the Manager that I found this on Sprint Users and thought this might help her. If it makes their job easier they might be more willing to help you too. Good luck! http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=193756 |
Re: sprint sucks
ok. So here's a twist. Twenty phones on my account and I've been through 5 TP1's. They refused to send a TP2, but gladly gave me a new in the box TP1. Manufacturing date was July, 09 so maybe, just maybe, I might get lucky and the keyboard problem got fixed, but I doubt it. I wonder what would have happened if I would have swapped my TP to one of the lines that is out of contract if I would have gotten a TP2, instead?

Re: sprint sucks
new in box tp? id sell it and put it towards a tp2

Re: sprint sucks
Whoah! Good idea. Wonder if it matters that I've used it for a few days?

Re: sprint sucks
you sprint fanboys are worse than iphone fanboys...
SPRINT is almighty verizon sucks cause they have better coverage and cheaper phone! Damn you all on verizon... we pay the same for our verizon plan as we would if we switched to sprint what you guys have to say about that?! Ive never had a problem with customer service either... You know what? People are more willing to help you out if you are polite. Try calling them back and being very nice and just ask to talk to someone higher up. |
Re: sprint sucks
I have been a Sprint customer for 9.5 years now and have always been treated fairly. I somehow never get 10 broken phones or have any other problems and almost everyone I speak with is polite and willing to work with me. Maybe these people who say "Sprint sucks!" are going about things with the wrong attitude?

Re: sprint sucks
have fun bypassing lockdowns. lol.. btw, i'm just kinda playin here. I could really care less, to each their own. I actually sold my sister her verizon plan years ago, cuz where she lives the coverage was/is better. that was one of the last analog capable phones I sold too. good ol audiovox.

Man that's messed up if u think we pay the same for the same plans. I hate to say it but that is so untrue! Each one has their good n bad points, but prices..... At&t n Verizon has some of the most expensive plans there is and offer so little with them. But in the end it's always up to each person to make their own choice... |
