Today screen whenever screen shuts off

Whenever I shut off the screen by hitting the power button, it always takes me back to the Today screen, regardless of what I had open (Opera, most of the time). Also, when I'm talking, the screen shuts off, and when I turn it on, the Today screen again, keypad gone. I've installed the ICS+Wmod, JDarcsoft and a tethering cab, in that order. This only started happening after the tethering cab was installed about a week ago. And ideas on how to stop this? I'm hoping it won't involve reg-edits, because I have no idea how to do those, I just take the premade packs when I can. Thanks in advance!
