Re: HTC TP 2 "EV" , 1x vs. I phone 3 G
The switch is between the old (1X) and new (EVDO) network. Depends on what you have available in your area.
iPhone's don't have that issue cuz they just don't know it. That's generally the mindset of Apple... mask stuff from the users and if they don't know it won't hurt them. As for texting in 1X over EV, never heard that one.... I do know that 1X has the potential to draw more power in standby mode but it's not really a big deal. Flipping between 1X and EV is only an issue for some people doing data who'd rather it just stay put. Also if you're in an area with no EV coverage or excellent EV coverage it doesn't matter.. it's only when you're in a spotty EV area does this issue even remotely come up. --Chris |

Re: HTC TP 2 "EV" , 1x vs. I phone 3 G
It's no different than the iPhone switching between 3G and Edge. Depending on what's available in the area you happen to be in, the TP2 may either have 1x or EVDO available. As far the EV to 1X switching during texting, this is normal and it's only while sending and/or receiving a message.

Re: HTC TP 2 "EV" , 1x vs. I phone 3 G
the iphone voice calls and sms are via gsm(2g) or edge(2.5g)!! edge is more commonly used for data!! the iphone 3gs uses umts(3g) or hsdpa 3.6 (3g). The iphone 3gs uses hsdpa 7.2 (3g) for data!! but like a earlier post said if the customer doesnt see it , it wont hurt them!!!

Re: HTC TP 2 "EV" , 1x vs. I phone 3 G
The reason this doesn't happen with the iphone is because gsm can simultaneously run two networks. this is why they are able to video call and cdma can not. Therefore with the iphone you can be talking on the phone in 1x and be browsing the web in 3g if you're in a 3g area. that is why it doesnt switch back and forth. With cdma its either one or the other, hence the reason for the switch.

Re: HTC TP 2 "EV" , 1x vs. I phone 3 G
Well with my Touch Pro (1) i was getting awful service where i live (nyc). It seems that a few texts and i was at 50 %. i am just thinking what my touch pro 2 will be like and what i can do. So what you are saying is when you text it automatically goes to 1x or does it send evdo?
