Need Help with Verizon PRL, Alltel Plan, Network Extender, TP2
Our 3 family phones are all new Verizon devices (HTC Touch Pro 2 with Data Plan, LG enV Touch with VCast, VPack, Motorola Rival), but as former Alltel customers, we have kept our Alltel plan - much more cost effective than the VZW equivalent.
The problem is that the cell reception in our home, which was poor with Alltel, has become worse since the Verizon merger. I just installed the Verizon Network Extender, and it works fine, except that it doesn't "see" or accept our phones. According to VZW Tech Support, that is because they have an Alltel PRL (30045, north of Charlotte, NC); he had no solution for this other than switching to a Verizon plan (which is not acceptable).
He did answer my question, saying that a Verizon plan phone in our area would have PRL 51440. I have searched the web (Corolado, etc.) but haven't been able to find this PRL. I have found how to manually install it, but I need to verify which file I need, and to actually get my hands on it.
So:
First, does anybody see a problem with this plan, or see what unanticipated consequences might arise if I did manually change the PRL (such as phone or data charge changes, roaming charges, etc.)? (Our plan is Total Freedom, so there should never be roaming charges)
Second, does anybody know where I can get VZW PRL 51440, or know of another that is available that would work for my needs, in my area?
Third, where is the current PRL file on my Touch Pro 2, and what is the file name? I did a search of the device for both the text 'prl' as well as the 30045 number, and came up empty. Someone elsewhere suggested it might be possible to edit the current PRL to achieve my goal, but I have no details on that.
Any help greatly appreciated. I'd love to be able to reliably use our phones at home!
