Problems with ActiveSync and my new TP2(sprint)

I installed the software that came with it and connected via USB, on my computer it says connected and then a pop up comes up with the green spinning wheel and it says "retrieving settings" for ever and eventually becomes non-responsive. Any ideas or tips?

I have a possible explanation. When this first happened to me, I didn't have the Outlook trial (that comes on the CD) installed. When I dragged the A/S window out of the way, I saw an error dialog behind it complaining that it couldn't find a registered email program. When I dismissed it, A/S continued as it was supposed to.

nevermind-easy fix that I didn't do---reset! After resetting phone now it doesn't hang and appears to be working....with the exception of exchange syncing, but I think I need to dig up correct settings from old device or network admin and input them to get it to work.
