No one is pulling the "holier than thou" card. We're just tired of this type of thread popping up EVERY SINGLE time a new device comes out from people that chose not to get TEP or want a free upgrade. Anyone wondering why this device is more expensive than in the past? Well, this very thread sure goes a long way to shedding some light on the situation.

Mr. 8820, I'm glad you aren't buying another device from the same company you're unhappy with. Smart move on your part. If you aren't happy, do something about it, and you are. I respect that. On the other hand, you have the other end of people who either use problems as an excuse to ask for a free upgrade or get themselves convinced that their phone has problems so that they can get a free upgrade. I'm not classifying anyone in one group or the other, but just because your phone has some problems doesn't entitle you to a free upgrade. I didn't, as you said, "throw my money away"... I was always very happy with my Touch Pro. I had a few replacements due to some screen issues and whatnot, but no more than really any other phone. That's what I had TEP for, and my 3rd device ran from March until this point without a single problem, at least for me. Everyone is different, but getting upset because you want a free upgrade, with or without TEP, is just silly. If they do it, fine, but getting upset because they won't? I rest...

well put. i, too, don't want the scam threads. i detest those as well. but this thread is about getting the run-around about a quality replacement. all of a sudden, all those who shelled out full fare or got the discount showed up. so, that's what i'm rebelling against. if you check the threads, i never posted in the "i ordered, i have, i sleep with it under my pillow" threads. i'm sticking to the anti-tp2 threads lol! i will give you a thanks though, you posted with your head and not your heart on your sleeves!

Yeah some people just have flat out bad luck, and I'm one of them. It just so happens my phones tend to go pretty well for me **knock on wood**... If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have luck at all lol.

i posted something before but retracted it. but sprint made me pay the deductible plus sign another 2 year deal just for a new replacement instead of a refurb. so now you see why i feel what i feel. and i've been with them 9 years. i won't push for a tp2 replacement though. i bought mine new thru telesales 10/30, got it 10/31, sprint store couldn't program it and replaced it new but it died 11/11. nothing but refurbs every since. but i'm not mad anymore, got alot of tweaks and hacks from this site and i'll keep trading 'em in!

What about my case. I joined Sprint bout 4 months ago. Bought a brand new TP1. failed within a month and a half.(screen oily smudge). Headed to my repair store and they gave me a refurbished. I was kinda mad but I took it. Later another month the keyboard fails. Too it back and got another refurbished.Took that home and calls would not come in but would go out. Went to the repair store and had it replaced again with yet ANOTHER refurbished. This one is about 4 weeks old and still going. Only thin that bumes me out is its a refurbished and the battery cover is a weird silver color compared to the new ones. DO you think its fair to say Sprint owes me a TP2?

In short, no.. You purchased the TP1, that is the phone they should replace it with. Refurb or not, they are doing their part to try and take care of you.
Secondly, how is it that Sprint owes you a phone when your profile says you have Alltel as a carrier? Not sure how Sprint plays into that...

in my case I have had 4 tp's and 6 diamonds. I finally just said the heck with it and sold my dimond and bought a pre from craigslist. Pretty soon I will sell the tp and use my upgrade for either the hero or tp2

Noob, uhhh "NO". Sprint does not owe you a TP2. For the umpteenth time in this thread, Why should they upgrade you? I understand your frustation, but it is absolutely not a reason for an "UPGRADE"!!!!

Ahh.. you guys are right. I should change that alltel info. Im with sprint now. I really care less but would be nice if Sprint gave me a new one for a change. I mean.. I paid a lot of money for the first nerw device, later failed due to manufacture problem and then I am forced to have a refurbished device. Its like I paid new for only one month. Kinda aggravates me now.

You should have never accepted the refurb. If you complain enough, on teh first replacement, it is possible to send a new device through warranty. But if they give out new devices to each person who has a problem, with a refurb that is sent out (and doesn't work), they'd go broke by tomorrow. You'd have a new phone, but no carrier to support it. Just like you, there are 30,000 more people with the same exact problem. Again, the device or manufacture isn't the issue, it's the carrier. Didn't someone say, the GSM model devices have less issues? So why not go to a GSM carrier?

What motivates you to keep going through all this, with this one carrier? That's a lot of phones to go through, since they only came out a little over a year ago.

I am in charlotte, and when I go into the store I don't seem to go through all the crap most people do. They normally give me a new one. I knew what the problems were with the phones b4 I bought them I just didn't think the problems would keep occurring. Now I have a pre and a touch pro waiting to try the hero

I went through 3 800W devices. When the 3rd died I took it back to the dealer and asked if I had to suffer through a 4th one, that the first died with a ROM problem and the other 2 with defective keyboards. I asked very nicely and was up'd to a Touch Pro. That one worked fine for about a month and had a problem and was subsequently replaced with a refurbished unit that has functioned perfectly. It went to the wife when I purchased the TP2.

Fact is that HTC is incapable of releasing a phone without some major flaw. If you buy an HTC product, you will have to ignore some of the flaws. In my case, I've gotten a pretty good one from what I hear. I have the oil slick square in the middle of my screen. Fortuately it can't be seen while using. The number 9 key is kinda messed up and I gotta press it hard for it to work ( many other's keyboard fail all together). The phone is slow but I've never expected a good running phone from this company.

The only thing which makes me despise this company is the gps lag which was never addressed and overheating problem in the tp1. According to this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...5&postcount=19 it seems that the telus tp2 has overheating issues too.

Wah. I was with Verizon for, hell, 8 years? I had soo many problems. Phones freezing and then restarting randomly, (sometimes during calls) smartphones with no data connection at ALL, etc. I have the Asurion protection but, I have never used it. All of my replacements (total of 21) were done either in-store, or via phone. I absolutely felt that they owed me something. After much deliberation, they agreed and offered to upgrade me with the NE2 program. (Including $100 off a new phone) I delved a little deeper and found that, in fact, they had changed my contract date altogether. With this new FREEDOM, I went to Alltel for their TP. As of yet, no problems to speak of.

They won't run out of TP1's for a LONG time. I just had my 3rd Mogul replacement come (in 2+ years), and this one was NEW (and had a bad keyboard, another one on the way). Hopefully, I will use my upgrade soon, once I get a perfectly working Mogul to keep as a backup.

I'm on my 4th TP1, I'd be happy if they just replaced mine with one NIB. My original lasted 8 months. My refurbished ones never lasted more than a month.

im getting phone 7 in the mail today. the TP is poorly made. the dpad issue alone is a joke and also every unit sprint sells has software issues that have never been fixed. and its every unit

what sprint software issues? only issues I know of are all on HTC.
i've been running stock sprint rom for months.

dpad comes up on the left side. not glued down good enough.

disable touch flo

using classic screen go to contacts and type w , x or r

w and x will add a *

r auto dials

raised home pad is not an issue, home button still works. It was like this right out of the box, if you didn't like you couldve returned, the reason you have 30 days to try it out but like you said every tp has that.

the other problems i wish i could check out, but i don't know anybody who runs the stock rom still when there are sooooooo many better custom roms, but i guess if every tp does that, that is a problem, i wish i could check it out.

This will be my 4th touch pro... and but one was new.. and all had the same problem.. that damn qwerty would stop working. I dont know how many of you guys are out there? And to those people going after others in this sites cause we werent so lucky as them get good phones.. thats awful. I mean if you pay 300 plus for a device and you are paying insurance on it.. who are you to complain that people want what they paid for and are paying for. If sprint didnt want people exchanging phones or felt that need for people to exchange phones they would stop the insurance plan. So for all those complaining that people are taking advantage of the the system.. wrong we are just using the tool the system gave us to try to deal with the problem it gave us. simple as that. So instead of chewing out members here try to be understanding that yes it happens.. nothing is perfect.

You're right i hadn't thought about that when i was making those posts, thanks for opening my eyes, everyone who has had a problem with your tp, since it is a KNOWN issue on all tps everyone deserves a free tp2, cause i think everyone on ppcgeeks has had a tp exchanged. Me personally had mine replaced 5 times, i don't see how this justifys me getting a tp2 because if those are known issues they didn't just start right away, didn't you have 30 days to return? I see why they would give you an extra discount for one (cause they gave me one for sure) but free???

that isn't to say I expect to get a touch pro 2 when vzw releases them but rather to have it offered to me.

Its not uncommon that users get lemons (heck they're factory refurbs! anything can and has happened) heck if we do a little bit of counting after my refurbs, you'd see that spans almost 30 devices...

Do I find it interesting that the person is trying to get a new one? Heck yes I'd be doing the same thing why? I WENT THROUGH 9! And after a certain number you are entitled to a new device especially within the first month (at least on vzw)

Amen, I am on TP VZW #3 and the lady I talked to in support has already documented my account that I have had some P.O.S TP's and that if I have a problem with this one that they are to offer me the upgrade to a new TP2. So I have found if you talk to them in a civilized way they have always treated me fairly on doing an upgrade. Yes I have had to pay for the phone on the upgrades but all the TP's that they have sent me has not cost me one thin dime.

Im not trying to get a touch pro 2 bro.. i dont really care .. specially since 1 and 2 pretty much have the same specs.. except for the size of the screen.. im just saying to stop ******* at certain members cause we having problems with it. thats all.. and since we are paying for insurance every month ... we have the right to replace the a defective product. simple as that

No one was complaining about people trying to get replacements. Had you read the thread you would know (even based on the title) that it was directed towards those wanted a quick upgrade to a TP2.

Also, probably not the best idea to try to bypass the swear filter. Congratulations on your ban.
