So with my $150 upgrade credit I get this phone for $200 after rebate? Hmmm, tempting. If I can get $125 or more out of my TP I think I will jump on this.

With your upgrade you will be able to purchase the TP2 for $349.99. You qualify for $150 of retail plus any mail in rebates.

$350 AFTER $150 credit????

/me face palm.

Damn it! I will wait for Amazon to hopefully offer the phone for 200$ or less... F-- I just can't drop 350$ on a phone that is an extremely minor upgrade... 250$ was my limit!

Ugh......i'm kind of caught between a rock and a hard place.

I either pay the price Sprint wants, OR I stick with this retarded flip phone, since I sold my Diamond and Touch Pro......UGH!

$350 after the upgrade credit and the mail in rebate is retarded. Especially since there is no proof that HTC fixed their keyboard issue. I may go to the Pre just for something different.

Are you talking about the lag? I tested the T-Mobile TP2 for a few weeks and there was no lag whatsoever. Hopefully that carries over to the Sprint version also.

Correct, 450 up front. Retarded.

Definitely retarded, with amazon selling Tmobiles version for $150 and the IPhone selling for $199 Sprint is shooting themselves in the foot...

I have SERO. You guys say the retail price is $450, so if I am eligible for my $150 rebate I can get the touch pro 2 for $300 technically.

I am guessing that $100 discount is a Everything plan discount?

T-mobile's price is high too. I am going to wait to see if Amazon sells Sprint's phone for less. Though I suspect Amazon won't be able to renew a SERO account, so there is probably no point.

No, I think retail price is $599. $450 is what you pay out of pocket for being a new customer or upgrade eligibility. Then you have the $100 mail-in rebate bringing it down to $350.

I don't think that is how it works. The phone is $600. Your $150 upgrade credit brings it to $450. You get a $100 rebate, so the phone costs you $350.

ETA: freeza said it first.

And if that is the case then a big fat NO. This could be the worse selling smart phone in history at that price. Looks like I will have to wait and see what the Hero pricing is.

yeah, 350 is a bit steep for this phone. Maybe a 3rd party dealer (best buy, radio shack, simply wireless) will have a better deal.

i am kinda shocked on the price of the TP2... 350 after 100 rebate ... that is $$$$$$$$$

the phone still runs WM 6.1 .. how do they warent such a higher price .. for bigger screen...

def feel i am gonna wait for something more of a chage... maybe the htc hero

Do you guys think the price is so high because they really want to gear the phone to business users and not exactly general consumers (who alot of just want a cool looking phone but dont know what to do with it). They dont dont want regular consumers buying it..........they want business clients who prolly wouldnt care about the price tag!!!
*just a thought*

Yeah, but still, with businesses experiencing the pinch as well I doubt they will gladly pick these up at the rate they would have before the recession.
This is just ridiculous. I mean the specs are the same as the TP and the Operating System is STALE compared to any new OS out there ( In as much as I love WM), this is not a win for the consumer.
It's just a BAD way for sprint to shoot themselves in the foot, and they are Bleeding customers. To think I was waiting so much for this

I agree. Not only have they been pushing away regular customers, it seems a lot of their committed users are starting to get restless with them. Maybe they do want to gear it towards business class, but it's stupid to try and price it out of the range of most consumers.

Sero Plan does exist, I bought it from some guy through ebay in March when I switched to Sprint. Also, my deductible is still $50 bucks, I've only used insurance once when my TP broke and had it replaced for the same one a few months ago. The deductible didn't rise because people were doing fraud, they went up because they wanted higher profits. All these companies work together to defraud people. Just look at ATT/Verizon, they charge you 20 bucks for text messaging and $30 dollars for internet, and their voice plans are almost identical in price. If thats not fraud and collision to screw the customer, than I don't know what else is.

One more thing, the Iphone, TP, TP2, etc, they only cost about $10-20 bucks to produce from some sweatshop in China. Don't believe all that hype about any of these phones costing them hundreds to produce, its all BS. Remember, these companies buy the material at cost price.

They can go shoot themselves as far as im concerned for that price. I have the TP1 and ill stick with it. As far as moving towards business customers... they're not going to sway any businesses away from blackberries with that price.

Re: sprint tp2 price

Honestly for that price there is no reason to extend the contact and have to upgrade to the SE plan. 599 retail minus the 200 you can get for the TP on CL = 399. I guess I will stay on my sero plan, buy the phone retail or ebay and in three months I will have broken even with thier "subsidized" price. And I won't have to wait months for a mail in rebate that will come in an envelope that I think is junk mail and throw away anyway

In reality, we pay insurance to help other insured if they experience a loss. In the best possible situation, the fee we pay each month would cover the loss of of some insured and a little leftover for the insurer for administration/cost to run their business.

For an example, we all pay $7 a month for insurance. If there is only 100 people in that pool, that is $700 in fees collected per month. In that month, insured #66 experienced a loss with their TP. They paid the deductible of $100 and got a brand new TP which has the cost of $580. Assuming that no other loss are report that month, the revenue collected by the insurance company is $800, purchasing cost is $580 and total profit before other admin/payroll/etc is $220. Not all months will be like this as for it varies ever so often. One month, they could experience 10 claims or none at all. This is a just a small example but you expand this to thousand and million to see a different result.

Basically, insurance is just a tool for us to use in order to cover our butt. Yes, I understand you can buy TP out there for $200 or so and not the $580 price tag, but have you consider without insurance, the price would be a lot higher; as for the cheapest way to get TP at subsidize price is through new customer pricing. Insurance claims (legit or not) bring a whole new pool of supplies of TP and any other items to the market. As for deductible increase, they only raise it due to fraudulent claims. Just too many people are abusing the insurance company for claims when it was $50, so raising it to $100 will make those abusers to reconsider their options. If really understand how insurance works, you would really appreciate it. My 2 cents.. :)

I don't have Sprint and unfortunately still waiting on Verizon to get their head out of the sand, but seriously $350 isn't that bad, could be better, but isn't that bad. If you really think it is, wait until after the holiday's when all phone prices usually drop to keep sales up, otherwise open up the wallet and hand over the Benjamin's..
Speed...

No, I think the biggest part of the cost is the "International" part. I'm sure the redesign is a portion of the bigger cost, but making it an international phone is being forgotten in these threads about price.

Phone: 449
MIR: 100
Contract Renewal Credit: 100 (one month free)
Sold Touch Pro1: 125
= Final Cost of $124 without any complaining, threatening to leave, speaking to retentions, whining, etc etc...

I don't see what the problem is?

Like others said its the screen and also the international capability. Also its only a $50 difference. tp1 was $299 after mail in rebate and tp2 is 349 after mail in rebate. if they lowered the price of the tp that is because of the tp2 has been released but the tp1 was 299 after mail in rebate, making only a $50 difference, where did you get $150 from?

Re: sprint tp2 price

i guess it makes since now with the international band and cdma. that part of the device slipt my thoughts. i still think its abit pricy. seeings not a major upgrade to a year old phone. it looks better and has a better screen. but for the money its not much of an upgrade from the tp1 or the diamond. unless u really need a dual band phone. i guess i was expectin the phone to be a bit cheeper. for someone with a tp or diamond who doesnt travel the world it doesnt of much of a reason to sign for two yrs and give up a health rebat. unless u gotta have that sweet wvga display. oh yeah and sorry bout the mispricing. i was excited and freaked. no harm intended. thanx to everyone who corrected my mistake.

World Mode is a racket from as far as I can tell. Most of the higher-numbered MSM chipsets could always handle world mode, the CDMA carriers just wouldn't go for the UMTS radio. I've always been unclear on whether the GSM radio was always built-into the phones (makes sense to cut engineering & mfg costs of the chipsets) without the SIM slot or the radio omitted in hardware. The specs for the MSM75xx chipset have always said that they all supported CDMA AND GSM/UMTS.

why do people keep talking about this, its soo irritating. So since i'm irritated i'm going to voice my opinion also. I'm on sero so my plan is even better but not everyone has sero so i won't go there. Sprint charges 69.99 and gives unlimited data, unlimited text, 450 anytime minutes, nights start at 7, and now you get TRUE MOBILE TO MOBILE, FOR 69.99 UNLIMITED CALLS TO ANY MOBILE PHONE ON ANY CARRIER, so with all that verizon charges $30 more a month why in the world would you expect the phones to be the same price ](*,) multiply $30 x 12 months and thats $360 savings in the year, is sprint charging $360 more for the phone, NO. Also with that $360 savings, at verizon your nights start at 9 and you only get mobile to mobile with verizon customers. THAT IS WHY SPRINT CHARGES $150 MORE FOR THE PHONE!!!
