I still have a Mogul...Obviously memory is an issue, but if your gonna prick every point, iPhone didn't have 3g when it came out.

Yes..thats called fashion, they set a "fashion" trend...Pre prob resembles a vogue more though..lol

I don't care for multitouch....as for browsing, i preferred the old PIE and Minimo...I usually don't need a "full" display and if I did I used remote desktop to use a real browser. Due to lack of video drivers rendering webpages is a hassle.

...have you even read htcclassaction.org? this is what the TILT promised:

http://www.htcclassaction.org/images/att-tilt.png

Notice games and video is there

thats nice but graphic performance wise, my ppc6700 can out perform my mogul :/

good info. After ppc started to complaint o HTC about this backward step in technology they removed anything from their site that says multimedia. Fact.

There needs to be a connection at the core of the OS - the reason why HTC has been so successful is because it has woven the connection point between the OS and the phone experience better then Microsoft has done.

With that said, I use my phone as a productivity tool. This is not a gaming device for me - it's a connection device to the MS infrastructure in the backend. While more consumers are demanding a iPhone like device I still crave the capabilities of my phone to connect and play well with the backend that I need it to.

Sure it'd be nice to have 3D acceleration but let's be honest here - what does this do for me? Allow me to play games or show off HDwobble and beer drinking .99 apps? Seriously, not my cup of tea folks.

I commend Ex for putting together a post about HTC's cheapness. I think it's terrible but does it make my decision for buying this phone regretful? Heck no. Simply put it's the best WM device out currently. If one wants / needs more then don't be a slave to your device, choose what works best for you... at the end of the day it's just a tool.

You see, your argument does have valid points. But does it hurt to ask for the drivers that HTC should have included when we paid full price for it? Even if you would not gain anything if the 3d acceleration was given.... I bet you would download the updated patch if it was released huh? Or would you stay behind with no drivers and not even bother at all about the patch that would give you a overall BETTER experience and better battery life? Remember..... the drivers are NOT only for games that I care less for too.. but its for tom tom and igo8 that run at 3 to 5 fps compared to the fluid motion of prior MS72xx cpus. Another test you can all do is uninstall your pc video drivers. And see how you like it. I think alot of ppl here who care no more for the acceleration just cant conceive how much better the phone overall would be. ANd again.. NO ITS NOT FOR GAMING, its for rendering over across the whole board.

Exil3d..I think they are right..when they go to restaurants..they don't expect knives, forks and plates...since they aren't on the menu..and if your food is placed on the floor, you can still eat it so it no way hinders, right?

I get where you're coming from... but does anyone know the prices associated with the licensing fees? Sure, I'd like the improvement to my phone... but I'm as close to perfectly happy with my phone as I've ever been with the touch pro 2. I welcome improvement, would I be willing to pay 20+ bucks for enhanced graphics drivers... can't say that I would.

Comparing this to forks and knives isn't exactly the same thing. Would people eat at a restaurant with no forks and knives? Yea... like 0.01% of the people would... effectively ignoring a huge percentage of people, unless you're purposely catering to that niche market. Will people buy an HTC touch pro 2 (or any other model) phone even though it doesn't have built-in graphics drivers? Yes, large majority of people that the phone appeals to will buy it with or without drivers. The business decision comes into play is how many MORE customers will be gained/lost versus the cost of licensing.

I, like jessiethe3rd and I assume many others purchased the phone for its practical applications... I don't care how well it renders divx videos or plays games. Yes, I'm well aware that there are many practical applications for good 2D/3D drivers outside of those and think it would be a good idea to include drivers as it does nothing but enhance the device. But without knowing the licensing fees it's hard to call them greedy and/or make other blanket statements.

no indication of whether the qualcomm drivers will drastically improve things based on specs of htc devices? I mean we toss it around that htc won't pay for drivers but how much would it change things?

Come ON! HOw much is a driver gonna cost? 1000000000 dollars? Its a small code for gods sake! matter of fact they have it written for the GUP already! Its not like the just design a GPU and say.."Now how do we program it?" No... the drivers are done and finished.

It would make tomtom run over 30fps for sure. Specially since older devices ran it with out any hiccups at all easily reaching over 50+ fps. If you turn on Tomtom's eye candy it crawls to a mere 1 to 3 fps. Embarrassing.

.

It is EXACTLY the same thing...I'm sure at least 30% or more of the world population eats like this if not more..because to them its part of daily life and they don't have a choice...if you were starving you'd eat food off the floor before you know it. Same thing...we don't have much choice other then the TP2 for business use if we want a function phone, if another manufacturer like Samsung were to release similar phone with drivers, then I'd obviously go that way.

Not to mention, there are many people out there who are willing to pay extra to get the drivers..but thats not even an option. I'm sure you'll find that a few thousand people would pay extra to get those drivers. I mean they could sell the drivers like they sell software for 20$-50$ per device...and I assure you people will buy.

Most people that buy the HTC devices though probably don't know that drivers are not included. Trust me, if the drivers were included in all devices and there was plenty of choice and the TP2 didn't have them, there would be outrage at HTC. You accept it because your used to it being this way.
