Re: GPS Lag?

I think the GPS chip is a POS.

I have two BT GPS pucks & if I use either of them I get no lag whatever in GarminXT.

If I use the internal TP2 GPS, it definitely lags. This is really annoying as my old Titan/xv6800's didn't lag like this.

Re: GPS Lag?

This improved my lag from 3 seconds to about .5 seconds.

First install NET Compact Framework 3.5
Next install and Run Advanced Configuration v3.3

1. disable A-GPS (should be default)
2. disable GPS logging
3. logfile name must be empty
4. old logfile name must be empty
5. maximum size of logfile must be 0 (should be default)
6 delete the files : \windows\GPSLogFile.txt and \windows\GPSLogFileBack.txt
Attached Files
File Type: cab Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3.cab (282.1 KB, 47 views) Click for barcode!

A 22 page guide, wow?! Somebody's life story is in there.

Just kidding. Actually, it helped a lot. But a strange thing is that even though I turn logging off, when I reset I looked again and noticed that it was back on the way it was. I can't get it to stay off.

Anybody else notice that?

First in Google Maps do you have the option checked to 'Use GPS'?

I had the same issues at first, then I followed the instructions and ran the apps as in this post -
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=598

Make sure you install the SDKcerts CAB first, then restart the phone. Then install Quick GPS. This will restart for you a second time now. Then connect to the internet via browser or whatever, then run QuickGPS and 'Download' the latest satellite info. When I didn't connect to the net first, QuickGPS failed to download the updates.

Now run Google Maps, should be almost instantaneous. If not, uncheck the Use GPS and then recheck it. My TomTom does like to take a bit to sync up, but when I go to the Settings>GPS Config area then it finds the satellites real quick.
Those instructions are for installing QuickGPS.... for the stock Verizon Touch Pro 2, QuickGPS is already part of the stock ROM. Open the start menu and click All Applications and it will be in the list. QuickGPS will only help you obtain a lock faster by getting you as close to a warm GPS boot as you can get without actually doing a warm GPS boot.

I have a Verizon TP2 and doing 80MPH on the NYS Thruway will definately show a 2 second lag. I will pass under overpasses and then look down at google maps and watch my marker go under them a second or so after looking down.

Not having that problem. You should probably avoid 22 pages. Fixing yr GPS is as simple as deleting two entries, then delete two files from the windows folder. It's not rocket science!
