The instinct was fine for my fingers..but was very limited and I missed WM. So I bought the Diamond 3 mo. after working out a deal with sprint to exchange my Instinct without seeing one in person. Found it to be very small, remember my snausages and I had a hard time with the onscreen keyboard. Other than the size, the keyboard and the screen size I like the Diamond...lol. The Pro2 solves all of those things, and is really what I have been looking for.

As far as cost, I have been trying to decide whether I want to pay full price or sign a new 2 year contract (SPRINT) and get a discount. I am leaning toward buying the phone at full price. It can't be more than a couple of hundred to buy it outright and I will not be locked into a contract when my current one expires. So if a phone I want comes out on another provider (though I do like sprint) I will be able to get what ever I want.

Since other are ranting....here is mine.
If you are eligible for a 2 year upgrade, don't you usually save $150 plus any additional rebates they offer. At that point it usually comes out to more then a $150 savings. Then if you wanted to cancel your line before your contract is over, isn't it $150 or so. Seems to me it makes more sense to get the rebates and pay the cancelation fee later on if you feel the need to jump to another carrier......

I didn't read the whole thing, just the top portion. I understand where you are coming from. In my case I am trapped with sprint contract or not. I pay 30$ + monthly tax for 500 minutes (which I only use 200 max), unlimited data, unlimited text and nights starting @ 7. This plan is beyond perfect for my needs plus I get great service in my area so switching carriers is out of the question.

I might as well get some money back.

Wow, I heard that they prorate the cancellation fee but I thought that it was closer to $200+. Was it also reduced after the class action suit?

Wink Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?

Was thinking about going to the dark side (with the iph@rt) but stopped when I saw the TP2. I tested using Nitrogen 1.1 as a primary MP3 player and was satisfied. Now all I need is a 32 GB microsd card and a TP2 to finally merge all my diverse devices into one i.e. GPS, phone, MP3 player, cheapo camera, PDA, mobile entertainment center.

Ahhhh good days..... good days !

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?

I will definitely not miss the TP1 D-pad. That has got to be the worst I've ever used. It's useless.

That one thing I've noticed that sucks is that the TP2 is missing some essential keys IMO. What happended to the CTRL and Tab keys? I use those all the time.

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?

I ordered the device and I should receive it on Tuesday. I currently have the Mogul and it's pretty basic. I have been following the development of the HTC Touch 2 pro for a while now and as soon as I found out that you could order it, I pulled the trigger. This device may be overkill for me since I'm not a business guy or a traveler. My plan is to use it for 25 days or so and exchange it for a Hero (part of Sprint's return policy of 30 days). I might also just wait for the Nokia n900.

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?

I hated the zoom feature, I was constantly fiddling with it when using Excel, one of 3 applications I use throughout the day. Hated zoom. I do though miss the 5-way functionality, as I am constantly having to run the finger to get around. As for the keyboard, I really have not had any issues there.
