Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

This is all very similar to the GPS lockdown on the VZW Q9c
In that case the GPS worked, but only with VZNavigator.
Nothing else could talk to the GPS chip.
Hacks went on and on trying to find a solution until the device just became end-of-life and everybody moved on to something newer and better.
A resolution was never found, despite the very best of efforts.
People were even shipping Q9c's around the country from one forum memeber to another to test and try things.

Same like it was on the Titan/XV6800, that was solved...

No, not really.

The carriers actually advertised GPS function for that device, but didn't ship with a ROM that supported it. They did eventually release official ROM updates that fully supported GPS.

Nobody actually "solved" the problem in the sense of figuring out how to enable GPS - a pre-release radio was leaked that included GPS support a little while before the official ROM updates became available.

The CDMA carriers have never advertised any FM radio functionality in the rhodium. I think it's doubtful they'll ever release a ROM that enables FM even if it were theoretically possible.

read the thread and you'll see why people want the FM Radio, even as much as 2-3 pages back people mentioned why they want it.

Because not everything is streamed over the web...Like sports and some local news/stations...

The reason I want it...

I can understand why some people want an FM radio on their phone. But for all the time and effort you've put into this you could have easily just bought one of those $5 matchbook size FM radios off ebay. They are so small you wouldn't even know you are carrying it.
