2)Just makes me wonder why the experts never found out how to enable this though but, it might come down to needing the source code to enable it....

1) dude read up on things and dont just speculate... Sprint very much still has TP2s.. read the threads about it being Gone-thats VZW, not Sprint..

2) because its not possible dude!! 3 years theyve been trying! All your doing is added fuel to a dead fire.. just stirs up arguments for something proven not to work..

And you know HTC also tells you the battery overheating on TP1s is SUPPOSE to happen.. and that LAG and FREEZING, is SUPPOSE to happen on TP1/TP2.. do you believe everything someone says.. do you you take visual and years worth of proof.. you have 3 years of trial and error and the fact no cdma TP2s(and others) to date have FM radio- any reason why you REFUSE to look at the PROOF??

PIC or it didnt Happen ya know...

In this thread, it's quoted from HTC that is said that it's software disabled by choice of the carrier (and followed up a few times through out the thread)

It's hardware-disabled, not software-disabled.

There is probably some reason that you believe changing a Preferred Roaming List could do this, but I can't imagine why you'd believe that.

Nope. Hardware is there (in that there's a chip with an FM receiver), just not physically connected in a way that makes it usable.

It's always been legal to "jailbreak" a phone. That's never been an issue for Windows Mobile devices, though, since Microsoft has never insisted that all software come from its (until recently non-existent) "App Store" and has never made any serious attempts to prevent users from modifying their phones.

What on earth gives you this notion? I was in 3 Sprint stores yesterday, one company-owned. All 3 had Touch Pro 2's out.

Sure, just as it always has been. Just for the purposes of argument, let's pretend it would be possible to do; what conceivable motivation might they have for doing this?

It comes down to the fact that, on our devices, it's not possible.

It would be useful for iGo which can get traffic data via the FM Radio. Otherwise, I wouldn't use it.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...67&postcount=1 heres the Teardown of the TP2... so wheres the FM Radio??

If you know why/where the problem is DAVE, why cant you fix it??? because its NOT POSSIBLE!!

i dont care if its hardware OR software disabled.. ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN!! obviously HTC cant help you!! what you think we havent asked in the last 3 years?? Guess what HTC and Google will say WE should have free HOTSPOT on Froyo, guess whaat, sprint disabled it.. HTC or Google cant release a patch to enable it though-because Sprint doesnt want it.. ITS UPTO the CARRIER what features are allowed or dis-allowed.. HTC CANT/WONT tell/show you how to enable FM Radio-I dont care how many calls you make!

With an extremely flaky interface, as well. On my Tilt 2, the FM radio program sucks. I often have to restart it multiple times to get it to scan for stations because it has a tendency not to hold them. And there's no way to configure just the ones you want, you have to let it finish a scan and set whatever stations it finds to the preset buttons. And you can't rearrange the order of those presets. I'm glad I have it, but it really isn't a great program to use.

Great pictures... You can't even see what the chips are because they're all covered. Based on other pics I saw before where you could actually see what was where on the board, the Broadcom chip that does bluetooth and FM radio is on the right side about 1/3-1/2 way down. Look up what bluetooth chip is used in the device, then look up the features of the bluetooth chip that is used and you'll see that it does in fact have the capability to do FM radio.
