Interesting, Imagio, Diamond, both WITHOUT keyboards, have the FM radio enabled or can be hacked to have it enabled.

i don't understand why on earth any company would lock down a feature built into the phone. couldn't they just advertise FM as one of the features of the phone instead of taking the time to lock it down for no good reason??

Well yes and no. If they're market research indicated that individuals would use the FM radio more than they would downloading music from their sprint music store then yes they would lock it down.
I think that's the case with Sprint. "I think their data is flawed though." I personally have only downloaded 2 songs ut of the 1000 or so I shuffle on and off my storage card. 1 of the songs I DL'ed would not even play on my TP.
Now if I had an FM radio and the choice to use either, I feel it would definately be a selling point. Cuz we all know sometime there aint **** on the radio, and we turn to our recorded music. The amount of revenue generated by enabling a feature obviously did not outweigh theyre music store revenues. Although they probably didnt delimit they're queries by device type. That would require some effort on their part.

And Sprint and Telus and every other CDMA carrier that launched in the phone in this manner. It ain't just Big Red.

Although I agree that Sprint is locking down FM Radio for their own gain. I disagree that its for Sprint music store. Lets not forget that right there with Sprint tv is Sprint Radio. That is what they are protecting, the revenue off the paid version of Sprint Radio. They don't get is people will buy it anyway just like they do Sirius. I like Sprint Radio and sirius more than FM radio, but sometimes I just like to listen to a local chanel. They need to pull their head out of you no where and realize this. Instead they like to piss off loyal customers with their needless lock downs of supplied hardware.

SO i guess the conclusion is we have to wait on the HSPL?

The conclusion is that we don't know how to fix it and that it will probably require an unlock from HTC, which isn't going to happen unless the carriers ask for it.
