Anyone besides me getting rid of the touch pro when TP2 comes out? I am because its gets hot as hell and it stopps charging when I use sprint nav and my battery goes dead half way in my trip.

with all the people who returned these babies, i'm sure they'll have plenty of refurbed tp1s floating around.
|
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
good luck with that. I second that it will be a long time before they rub out. I got my diamond free when they ran out of the touch, but that was a year after the diamond came out. the touch pro has so many problems so I am sure they have a abundant amount

Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
Yeah I'll probably upgrade when I can, but I won't be "getting rid of" my TP1 by any stretch.
|
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
why would you go to the TP2 what are the "better options" its slower and has less memory.
|
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
If the TP1 was so terrible for you, what makes you think that the TP2 is going to be a godsend? Isn't it essentially the same phone with a larger screen?
|
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
i want the tp2 because it looks better than verizons touch pro, and hopefully it has the ram that was removed from verizons touch pro 1, push internet, and tf3d2
verizon customers are more justified in trying to get this phone if they leave the ram specs imo...otherwise like u said its the same phone with minor changes |

Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
Since Sprint will be releasing a WM6.5 update for the TP, I will keep my TP.
I only paid $1.05 for my Touch Pro when I was having so many problems with my Mogul. The new TP2 lacks a camera flash, dpad, voice services, and to me, the back is ugly. Also, the speakerphone requires that you put it screen down, talk about scratches!! I'M going to wait this one out until the WM7 devices roll out... |
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
agreed

Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
TP2 doesnt get a hardware refresh..... only bigger screen. You'll be disappointed if you think you are leaving TP problems behind you.

the mogul overheated, and it wasnt corrected with the TP... so i doubt the TP2 will be different... Has HTC made a new device in the past 2 yrs that doesnt overheat while charging and doing things??? until they upgrade their batteries they use(UTStarcom, actually recalled their batteries in the WING awhile back, same battery used in Moguls-sprint refused to do a recall, yet Tmobile mailed em out without customers even asking) we'll always have these issues... too many radios, and were trying to do too much while its charging... the problem is us, not the device necc... although, theres no reason not to be able to make a call and it stay charging, which the TP doesnt do |
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
I can't see the touch pro 2 as an upgrade because getting a bigger screen doesn't change the internal components. I like it for the big screen. that's it.
this reminds me of what car manufacturers do. they come out with a model and two years later they change the tail lights and a few knobs inside and act as if its so much better. tf3d2 has been floating around for a year. the only thing you getting is a big screen and better keyboard. we will see how many migrate to it when it comes out. |

TP does everything I need. A 6.5 upgrade will do until I get my hands on a free TP 2.
|
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
yea Ill take a free TP2 but even then would probably use it for a bit and get rid of it.
|
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
that's the only way i'd take one is free! other than that, tp1 baby!
|
Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
I'd upgrade if I could afford it but I don't have $800 to spare right now.

Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
well thats what i'm waiting to test. if I get a tp2 and it overheats like mogul and tp1 then its back to treo. my treo 800w was "made by HTC". and I never get overheating problems from it.

Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
I once thought all that, untill I keep seeing vids on it.... The screen is huge, That alot is woth the $, theres a video next to the g1 and it dwarfs it.... Also the keyboard is fantastice and hopefully wont go out like our damn pros do..... The speaker on the tp1 blows donkey wang, and the tp2 speakers seem to rock.... The titlting screen is also pretty sweet IMO... Ultimately this is what I would ask if I was to change some thing on the tp1, and now here it is, the tp2, yea its basically the same phone, but in a robocop type body, and its gonna be sweet... :u I tried talking myself outta one, but cant do it anymore, its so close and its just time for a new phone, and what better than the same one, in a different body..... Oh and the battery last a tad longer which is a plus and the screen is so sensitive its almost as sensitive as a capacitive screen,,,, thats another huuge plus..... Pictures are also gonna look awesome on it.....
P.s. Go Forrest griffin, kick anderson silvas arse tonight in the UFC... off topic:headbang: |

Re: getting rid of TP1 with TP2 comes
the TP2 is going to bomb. bigger/higher res screen and the same internals = crappier performance. plus, word on the street is, you won't be able to get the TP2 on a SERO plan.....

-Higher resolution, larger display -Improved screen touch response (according to reviews... we'll have to see) -Larger, offset key keyboard that is one of the best on a phone (again, according to reviews) -Official TF3D2 so it should (hopefully) be more stable than the current VGA ports for the TP1 --Includes landscape TF3D, much better calendar, TF3D screen customizations, more settings, etc. -Better speakerphone and noise cancellation than the TP1 -TBD but it looks like the CDMA version of this phone will have a 3.5 audio jack -Better performance than TP1, xperia X1, omia i900 (but not as good as the new omnia II) Downsides... -No flash -A lot of things to be determined yet... the biggest is real world performance, batter life, overheating, etc. |
