I saved the PIM file and emailed it to myself to move it to my PC, but you can't read any of the data from a PIM file on desktop PC apparently. |

Re: Dealing with an unresponsive touch screen
That's what I have found, however you can copy pim.vol to another WinMo device and read it just fine. BTW whenever the touchscreen on any 1 of my Vogues goes bad or gets scratched, I just replace the lens/screen/digitizer. It takes about 10 minutes, now that I've had alot of practice, and costs less than a single month of Assurian's so-called insurance. You can find touchscreen replacements on eBay, where I just searched on "htc pro2 digitizer" and got almost 200 hits:

How and where do you copy the PIM file? If I email the PIM file to another windows phone then where should the PIM file be added to the phone in order to view or use it? When I found the PIM file on my original phone I clicked it to see if it would open and I got a message saying the file could not be opened. I copied the file anyway and attached it to an email that I sent to myself. The PIM file is about 2 MB in size. |

Just upgrade. The tp2 was a great phone but work Microsoft no longer supporting it its just not that great anymore. You can get an evo 4g for $100 now, or the nexus 4g for a little bit more. Either way good luck

Spoken like a true Sprint representative. Sprint has mentioned an upgrade quite a few hundred times. After the taxes and the rebates and what not, I would need to spend closer to $150 to get a phone that is available in the store near me. I have other things that I would rather spend $150 on. My TP2 is little more than a year old, and when it was working properly I liked the TP2. If I upgrade now there will be another upgrade needed in a year anyway. I guess upgrading is always the solution. Thanks for the suggestions. Last edited by locobear; 01-15-2012 at 12:40 AM. |

Re: Dealing with an unresponsive touch screen
You should be able to view but not edit the PIM file using Notepad on your PC. Otherwise, I think you can use a specific file viewer like DragonUnpacker.

Re: Dealing with an unresponsive touch screen
The touchscreen on my Sprint TP2 started to fail. I hadn't taken real good care of my phone -- I dropped it a few times and stuck it in my pocket with keys -- and the screen had a few dings and scratches. Anyway, Google Search turned up a few ideas. I ended up restoring my touchscreen by running my fingernail along the edge, gently (okay, maybe not so gently) pulling up the plastic. No, I didn't have a screen protector on it -- I was lifting the top layer of the actual screen. That usually worked for a few hours or days. Other times, I pressed my thumbs all over the screen, and that gave me back the touchscreen for a bit, too.
I brought my TP2 into my local Sprint store/repair shop (downtown Minneapolis) and for $35 did an advanced exchange (I refuse to bother with insurance). My replacement TP2 arrived during Christmas break, and since I wasn't downtown, I just managed with my old TP2 for a bit. Anyway, I got my replacement a few weeks ago. Boy, is it ever nice having a new (refurb) TP2! By the way, as I walked to the Sprint store to pick up my new TP2, I ran SPB Backup, then simply restored the backup on the new phone. On another note, I recently decided to try XDAndroid on my TP2. It's nice being able to run a few of the apps I run on my Nook Color (CM7.1), but the TP2 with stock WinMo 6.5 is more dependable for me as a phone. I do tether my TP2 to my Nook Color, and use Magicall to dial calls through Google Voice (saving money since I'm on SERO 500 with Pick 3 and Pick 2). Okay, I'm off topic (and bragging). I wish I'd seen this thread earlier to offer my experience as a possible resolution to your touchscreen problem. Good luck! |
