Flash will not progress past 0%

This is certainly a new one for me.

Phone information:
Touch Pro 2 (Sprint)
Battery about 90% charged
Unlocked SPL-1.00 OliNex

Process:
Generally, when I flash I do it one of two ways. I either put the IMG file on SD card and flash that way, or I go into bootloader and flash via USB having manually put the phone into bootloader. I don't sync the phone with my desktop PC so I don't have activesync or WMDC installed.

In a little over two years with this phone, I've never had an issue.

Detail Scenario One - microUSB:
Unplug from USB and/or AC (result is the same with our without AC adapter)
Pull battery
Insert mSD card (I've full FAT32, not quick formatted three different cards) with RHODIMG.NBH.
Insert battery
Trigger bootloader (volume down + power)
Bootloader (tri color screen - SPL-1.00 OliNex) comes up
Immediately transitions to an all grey screen that reads

Loading ...

And then nothing else happens.

Detail Scenario Two - PC/USB:
unplug from AC / usb
Pull battery
remove microSD card
insert battery
Trigger bootloader (volume down + power)
Bootloader (tri color screen - SPL-1.00 OliNex) comes up
White part at bottom reads Serial
Plug into PC USB cable
White part at bottom changes to USB
Run "RUU_Rhodium_W_S2_Sprint_WWE_2.04.651.4_RS_2.32.00 WF" ROM installer - using something from HTC/Sprint to avoid issues with bad NBH or RomUpdateUtility
Next
Next
Update
Next
Next
PC screen updates to "Updating the ROM image on your PDA Phone" at 0%
Touch Pro 2 screen toggles to grey screen with 0% update progress
Nothing else happens ... some time later, the desktop PC updater flips out of update mode and walks through the flash recovery steps
the Touch Pro 2 screen stays at 0% until I pull the battery and start over.

Thoughts ?

Best regards,
-boggsie

try removing your sd card and running the stock rom .exe on computer as admin

I said remove sd card because I was flashing stock before and left sd card in with another rom set to flash on it so it wouldnt flash stock since it went to sd first

Yep, I could have done a better job of describing what I had done and this was definitely high on my list as I worked through the process of elimination.

Still searching and happy to entertain thoughts and possibilities.

Didn't see you mention it, but have you tried a different sd card? Also, maybe use a different cable when trying from pc?

Good thought on the SD Card ... tried three now, all formatted fresh Fat32 and no go ...

USB cables can go bad, so I gave it a shot ... four USB cables on three different USB 1.1/2.0 and 3.0 ports and no go there, either.

Keep em coming folks.

Re: Flash will not progress past 0%

sounds like the flash memory might be bad? not sure if i called the memory right but you can figure out what i mean

but something i havent seen mentioned is have you tried to flash a new radio? Since this uses bootloader also, it might kick whatever is blocking rom flash and get it moving by flashing something different? then try flashing stock rom again :S

Re: Flash will not progress past 0%

ive had a similar issue in the past, have the phone plugged in while off, let the computer install its drivers.

then put the phone in bootloader, let the computer install th drivers.

then have the phone on and let the computer install the drivers.

Seeing as how its letting you get to the grey screen... it shouldnt be the drivers, but its worth a shot

Worth a shot but darn, no improvement.

Hey, I am up for trying anything, but eating a bowl of spinach. Alas, didn't do anything different.

Re: Flash will not progress past 0%

I remember a user having a similar problem with a Vogue and he fixed it by reflashing the hard spl/unlocker and then he could flash a rom. I don't know if you could do that with your TP2 since the unlocker/HSPL for this device is so locked down and it probably wouldn't flash because you've already unlocked it blah blah blah. You'd probably have to get some kind of special permission from Olinex or an unlocked unlocker or some bs to do it.
I really wish they would revise the hspl for this device so enthusiasts wouldn't have to file a ticket or pay for it because this device is getting pretty old now.
Surely you haven't flashed your device enough that it can't be flashed anymore. You would have had to have flashed thousands of times.

This is precisely where my thoughts are gravitating ... something goofy happened and even though HSPL reads OliNex, the phone is behaving as if I am trying to flash a non-carrier or custom ROM on a locked-down phone. This is what made me think to try and flash the stock Sprint RUU again ... unfortunately, to no avail.

Problem with unlocking is that you must start out in Windows Mobile (Activesync or WMDC) so that the phone can load and work from a temporary bootloader which runs in RAM. This temporary bootloader then permits flashing the unlocked bootloader on to EMMC. If you can't get into Windows Mobile, you can't unlock.

Not sure what to do at this point except get my Touch Diamond out of the box. I'm not giving up my legacy SERO, that is for sure. $30 / month ... with pick 3 and 6pm nights and weekends. I'll keep my eyes open for another TP2 that is in good condition.

Best regards,
-boggsie
