Who still loves WM ?
Lol felt like copying @horndoctor
Well guys what do you think of WM yet ? anyone still like it ? how many people us WM as their default and why ? how many people switched to Android and why ? Have fun but keep the arguments and comments polite ;) Everyone is entitled to their opinion ! |
Re: Who still loves WM ?
WM will always have a spot in my heart, but it has come to a point where Android does most of the stuff WM does and since WM isn't being updated and all the devs pretty much left and windows embedded 7 will never end up on a cell phone there really is not much choice.
I mean software aside it just ended up as a hardware game, give it 5 more years and we will have cellphones with 1 week or even unlimited battery life running 16 core processors, 32gb ram and 256gb rom. There just comes a point where we must move on :/ |
Re: Who still loves WM ?
I switched because I wanted the HTC Evo. I wanted the first device with 4g on sprint and I wanted a device with more horsepower, larger screen, etc. If Sprint would have offered the hd2 at the same time T mobile did, it would have been a tough decision though. Also switched because I wanted to try out Android for the first time. I do miss winmo though and the great Diamond and TP2 community. Lots of fun back in the day for sure. Based on the amount of users in the HTC winmo section daily, I would say a lot of people are still using it.

I liked wimo and the vogue was my first smartphone. Plain winmo is fugly but our devs did wonders. I moved to android because i love to theme and have choice. Besides most of the winmo devs went android too. My next favorite os was webos. Shame it never really took off plus the palm community is the best ive seen. As far as wp7 its a slap in the face to the former winmo devs. Its too locked down for me |

Still love it and still use it and probably will for a while yet. Obviously, I'll have to move on some time. Probably to WP7. We shall see... |

Re: Who still loves WM ?
I LOVE WM.
its a shame its pretty much dead. I am going android here in the next few days though.. I cant stand windows 7.. and I hate iphone even more lol. Its just comming down to picking between a few dif droids. Anyway.. as for why I love wm.. -first smart phone -first touch screen -made my first apps for a wm -first skins -first.. well you get the point Im still loving my tp2. It has to be one of the best devices I'll ever own. But its dying inside a little every day it just cant keep up with me anymore. sadest face ever. but gten is right.. eventually we will have phones in our pockets that outspec current day high power laptops lol its a waiting game... I choose to go android because of the list of things I have to choose from.. droid is the only thing left I can tweek and sink my teeth into iphone? pfffft. you cant do shit on them, windows 7 phones? pffft. iphone wana be. "Dear Microsoft, Windows Mobile was the best thing ever. You peaked at windows mobile 6.5 We want windows mobile back, not windows phone... sincerely Everyone" |

But in the sense that they are both restricted and not hackable then it is like iphone. |
Re: Who still loves WM ?
My TP2 has been a workhorse and I have loved it. I want to thank GoodThings2Life for his excellent Tweaks... u de Man! I have hauled it to Africa and Ecuador where it worked as a phone and a great travel aid, if not a WM device. I am hauling it to Bishkek, but may switch to a different device there. It depends on what they have going on. TP2 relaced my TP to get two radios for world travel. In the US it has been indispensible with all of its tricked out s**t. Actually, if I ditch TP2 in Kyrg, the next thing will have to really rock.

Re: Who still loves WM ?
Trying not to acknowledge those @aedon posts. But yea anyway I love WM been with it since 2004 when I got a hp h1910 as a gift then upgraded to a Dell axim x50 but was later upgraded to an x51v because of all the problems (seems dell still hasn't learned their lesson because even the dell venue pro is having issues) I then moved on to a TP in 2009 and in may 2010 being frustrated with the battery issues I was having (dying and overheating on the charger) after it did that during a phone call with my gf at the time I called sprint and they replaced it with a TP2 which I still have but no longer in primary use as I now have an HTC arrive.

the day windows phone 7 becomes as customizable as windows mobile i'll jump back on the band wagon. But it just doesnt work for me at this point in time. I just dont like the interface of the tiles at all, and I want to be able to skin things on there like I have on window mobile. Sorry if it bothers you that Im not into windows 7 as much as you are, but on another note when I brought up the iphone you called it the iphony so youve got a distaste too :b |
Re: Who still loves WM ?
Ir's really a shame the MS just dumped WM. They shut down everything WM and then they expect us to support W7? I'm with aedon, I don't like the W7 interface with the tiles and no customizability.
WAKE UP MICROSOFT!!!! |
Re: Who still loves WM ?
umma stick with 6.5 until win7 makes a turn or explodes in its track
Phuk it::scratch: TP2 for now |

But if they already tried it and they don't like it, its impossible to convince them to like it. |
Re: Who still loves WM ?
I just didnt like the tiles, they kind of remind me of phones from 15 years ago... large "icons" except they move now :D
I do like WM, or rather I like the manilia, don't need a "desktop" look with how android/ios is set up since I don't use all that many apps. Just need news app/weather/calendar/alarm and clock lol. plus more than anything else, I just like my $30/month sero lol. I know virgin has android on for unlimited text/data for $35/month... but I just don't use my phone all that often. Aside from reading news and using it for quick calendar/alarm I still use my phone as a phone. The new "phones" seem to forgotten what a "phone" is and i just don't feel like they make calls are well, namely, it doesn't have TP2's speakerphone feature. I know android phones can get this with apps, but phones aren't designed for calling it seems now. |

Re: Who still loves WM ?
Still on this phone and loving it.
Does practically everything i need, i use 5-6 programs for my work almost everyday, i have set and customized it in a way that anything else seems unusable to me. Its keyboard will never be surpassed judging from current "pro" versions... Don't need the devs, since they already did everything there was to be done for this phone. Using a 6.5 version, with not much eye candy but enough still! I don't get all the fuss about screen resolution and colors. I feel fine with mine. It's a phone ...wtf? Got 2 batteries for a full usage of 5 days , a silicone 2-part case that protects it (i got proof!!!) and a screen protector (changes whenever necessary, 10 or so more are waiting patiently their turn to humbly serve !). Got the video-out cable (still sealed in its original bag-darned useless purchase, but it was cheap!). And we are having our 2-year anniversary next month... And yes, i am not stupid. I too would wish for a processor with ..."balls" and a camera that is less much of a joke...but it comes with the package. And this package is a keeper PS. Will not go to WP7 or iOS . Android is the only way to go for me, if and when i decide to |

I cannot wait until OMGB is fully functional (if it happens) so we'll get less comments on " Waaaa this doesn't work or boohoo my data.img is corrupt". Just save your comments on the builds if you don't like them. Sent from my ppcT7380 Ti/FRX06-07 via PPCG app |
