Who still loves WM ?

Lol felt like copying @horndoctor

Well guys what do you think of WM yet ? anyone still like it ? how many people us WM as their default and why ? how many people switched to Android and why ?

Have fun but keep the arguments and comments polite ;)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion !

Re: Who still loves WM ?

WM will always have a spot in my heart, but it has come to a point where Android does most of the stuff WM does and since WM isn't being updated and all the devs pretty much left and windows embedded 7 will never end up on a cell phone there really is not much choice.

I mean software aside it just ended up as a hardware game, give it 5 more years and we will have cellphones with 1 week or even unlimited battery life running 16 core processors, 32gb ram and 256gb rom. There just comes a point where we must move on :/

Re: Who still loves WM ?

I switched because I wanted the HTC Evo. I wanted the first device with 4g on sprint and I wanted a device with more horsepower, larger screen, etc. If Sprint would have offered the hd2 at the same time T mobile did, it would have been a tough decision though. Also switched because I wanted to try out Android for the first time. I do miss winmo though and the great Diamond and TP2 community. Lots of fun back in the day for sure. Based on the amount of users in the HTC winmo section daily, I would say a lot of people are still using it.

Agreed , but like you said , WM will ALWAYS have a place in my heart , i have learned so much from you guys here and i have WM to thank for that . Its where i started ! But you are right when you say its just time to move on , i personally feel if WM would still have programs being made that it would be great , but i guess companys want their money so they came out with something new :/ im still using WM . Prolly will till my contract expires , and prolly then again a few times after . Thanks to all those who enriched the experience of WM :D :headbang:

I liked wimo and the vogue was my first smartphone. Plain winmo is fugly but our devs did wonders. I moved to android because i love to theme and have choice. Besides most of the winmo devs went android too.

My next favorite os was webos. Shame it never really took off plus the palm community is the best ive seen.

As far as wp7 its a slap in the face to the former winmo devs. Its too locked down for me

Still love it and still use it and probably will for a while yet. Obviously, I'll have to move on some time. Probably to WP7. We shall see...

I LOVE WM.
its a shame its pretty much dead.
I am going android here in the next few days though.. I cant stand windows 7.. and I hate iphone even more lol.

Its just comming down to picking between a few dif droids.

Anyway.. as for why I love wm..
-first smart phone
-first touch screen
-made my first apps for a wm
-first skins
-first.. well you get the point

Im still loving my tp2. It has to be one of the best devices I'll ever own. But its dying inside a little every day
it just cant keep up with me anymore. sadest face ever.

but gten is right.. eventually we will have phones in our pockets that outspec current day high power laptops lol
its a waiting game...

I choose to go android because of the list of things I have to choose from.. droid is the only thing left I can tweek and sink my teeth into
iphone? pfffft. you cant do shit on them,
windows 7 phones? pffft. iphone wana be.

"Dear Microsoft,

Windows Mobile was the best thing ever.
You peaked at windows mobile 6.5
We want windows mobile back, not windows phone...

sincerely
Everyone"

WM still rocks!! Flashdance and custom ROMs keep me entertained. The hardware on the TP2 is just not there for XDAndroid to be my main OS. It's not the same. Something about polishing a turd.....:???:

couldn't have said it better myself !! its cool every once in a while , but everyday hell no . and @aedon Eric showed me a thread about cooking ROMs for windows phone 7 and a bunch of other hacking things , after I read that , it may make my upgrade choice a bit harder . but agreed on iPhone , they just suck . and I don't think windows phone 7 is iPhone wanna be , nothing about windows phone 7 is like iPhone , its a million times better . if you don't like techy stuff and tweaking , then windows phone 7 is for you .

But in the sense that they are both restricted and not hackable then it is like iphone.

Re: Who still loves WM ?

My TP2 has been a workhorse and I have loved it. I want to thank GoodThings2Life for his excellent Tweaks... u de Man! I have hauled it to Africa and Ecuador where it worked as a phone and a great travel aid, if not a WM device. I am hauling it to Bishkek, but may switch to a different device there. It depends on what they have going on. TP2 relaced my TP to get two radios for world travel. In the US it has been indispensible with all of its tricked out s**t. Actually, if I ditch TP2 in Kyrg, the next thing will have to really rock.

Trying not to acknowledge those @aedon posts. But yea anyway I love WM been with it since 2004 when I got a hp h1910 as a gift then upgraded to a Dell axim x50 but was later upgraded to an x51v because of all the problems (seems dell still hasn't learned their lesson because even the dell venue pro is having issues) I then moved on to a TP in 2009 and in may 2010 being frustrated with the battery issues I was having (dying and overheating on the charger) after it did that during a phone call with my gf at the time I called sprint and they replaced it with a TP2 which I still have but no longer in primary use as I now have an HTC arrive.

no disrespect to the XDAndroid devs and testers. Just that my tp2 is my work phone and I can't count the times where it has functioned as my back-up pc and mobile office. Unfortunately, I depend on my phone too much. Most likely will switch to a native Android device cause I still like to play phone nerd. I've learned a lot from WM and much thanks goes to the PPCGeeks.:headbang:

lol, sorry eric, but its just not the same. Im glad it works for you, but its not for me. not now anyway
the day windows phone 7 becomes as customizable as windows mobile i'll jump back on the band wagon. But it just doesnt work for me at this point in time.
I just dont like the interface of the tiles at all, and I want to be able to skin things on there like I have on window mobile.

Sorry if it bothers you that Im not into windows 7 as much as you are, but on another note when I brought up the iphone you called it the iphony so youve got a distaste too :b

lol eric give it up, from experience I'll tell you...there are people who hated touchwiz because they heard bad things about it, there are people who hated it cause they heard it looks like an iphone a bit. And there are people who flat out don't like it. People can change their minds if they heard something, then tried it.

But if they already tried it and they don't like it, its impossible to convince them to like it.

Re: Who still loves WM ?

I just didnt like the tiles, they kind of remind me of phones from 15 years ago... large "icons" except they move now :D

I do like WM, or rather I like the manilia, don't need a "desktop" look with how android/ios is set up since I don't use all that many apps. Just need news app/weather/calendar/alarm and clock lol.

plus more than anything else, I just like my $30/month sero lol. I know virgin has android on for unlimited text/data for $35/month... but I just don't use my phone all that often. Aside from reading news and using it for quick calendar/alarm I still use my phone as a phone. The new "phones" seem to forgotten what a "phone" is and i just don't feel like they make calls are well, namely, it doesn't have TP2's speakerphone feature. I know android phones can get this with apps, but phones aren't designed for calling it seems now.

Well its kinda where we are heading, once we have full LTE coverage all voice will be handled by VOIP. Right now all those phone services provided by phone companies are already VOIP. And there have been advancements in phone features as well, I remember there is a new motorola phone that has 3 mics for better noise cancellation for example.

Dude seriously? The TP2 was never designed to run android and please don't smile in the face of the devs only to stab them in the back, I seriously doubt ACL or highlandsun would find the comments by you and biga humorous.

Re: Who still loves WM ?

Still on this phone and loving it.
Does practically everything i need, i use 5-6 programs for my work almost everyday, i have set and customized it in a way that anything else seems unusable to me.
Its keyboard will never be surpassed judging from current "pro" versions...
Don't need the devs, since they already did everything there was to be done for this phone. Using a 6.5 version, with not much eye candy but enough still!
I don't get all the fuss about screen resolution and colors. I feel fine with mine. It's a phone ...wtf?
Got 2 batteries for a full usage of 5 days , a silicone 2-part case that protects it (i got proof!!!) and a screen protector (changes whenever necessary, 10 or so more are waiting patiently their turn to humbly serve !).
Got the video-out cable (still sealed in its original bag-darned useless purchase, but it was cheap!).
And we are having our 2-year anniversary next month...

And yes, i am not stupid. I too would wish for a processor with ..."balls" and a camera that is less much of a joke...but it comes with the package. And this package is a keeper

PS. Will not go to WP7 or iOS . Android is the only way to go for me, if and when i decide to

My point exactly. Thanks for re-confirming what the devs and forums have stated-TP2 was never designed to run android... Nothing funny about the truth. What's funny are the users who insist on running Angry Birds on TP2.

@mastergadgets I wasn't bashing u I just said that u may be among one of the many on this site who expressed negative opinions towards WP in one of the first front page articles about it. Half of them who had such an opinion ended up liking it after trying it. Wish I could pull up that article but they know who they are. I think @Aleki was one of them.

What's wrong with trying to play angry birds? Yes its choppy as hell and pretty much unplayable on the TP2, but why does that bother you?
I cannot wait until OMGB is fully functional (if it happens) so we'll get less comments on " Waaaa this doesn't work or boohoo my data.img is corrupt". Just save your comments on the builds if you don't like them.

@gTen I may just get the HD7 the Radar seems like it doesn't have 16G of space like my arrive FFC and 4G speeds aren't enticing enough alone to cause me to get that especially since the HD7 is capable of getting fast speeds as well.
