Help, Touch Pro 2 has little to almost NO data connection
 

Ok, so as the title states, my phone is have a really hard time connecting.

I still have weather updates, I still get all my calls and all my emails and text messages just fine, but I have NO INTERNET

I can only load google....
This is consistant in all the browsers on my phone. It will only load half of the page I try to go to, and then go to a white screen telling my that the page im looking for doesnt exist, try again.

And it takes like 10 mins for it to even load the half of the page it tried to load.

This only recently started a few days ago, I was on the android port and I installed chatt app off the market. The next day it updated itself and said that a new feature included "local chatt" and that it had turned on my gps to decect where I was at.

IMMEADIETLY after that, my pandora would stop streaming like 20 seconds into a song, my nexflix failed to connect, and my browser would not let me view youtube vids or anything else from other sites where I could stream it.

So I figured it was that app, so I deleated it.
Didnt fix it, s oI formatted my sd card and re loaded the port.
Didnt fix it.

it was then I realized that my windows side was affected aswell because i tried to download a file over at xda while on my mobile browser, and ten mins into the dl, it was only at like 5kb. (only like 2 percent)

and it would always time out.

So I hard reset, nothing

Reflashed, nothing

Flashed a new rom... nothing

Flashed stock 6.1 nothing.... ran the prl and such upgates....
actually got worse and slower

flashed stock 6.5... and ran the updates... still nothing


This is annoying... I hope someone out there knows how to fix this cause where Im at.. my phone used to be the best internet source I had.

maybe the sprint towers that serve ur location are busted. that was the case for me in my area so I called sprint and spammed their forums demanding a straightforward response and someone called me and explained that the towers in my area won't be finished with the upgrades and repairs till 9.30 so I suggest u call them and see if it's that. also do u experience this issue overnight or in a different zip code,if u do not then this is definitely the issue.

Im currently on a chatt with a sprint tech, he had me call a code number and deactivated and reactivated my phone.

Im not sure if its fixed yet, but its was only the internet that was messed up. not calls, not texts... just internet :/

yea of course they're going to always blame it on the phone first. they'll almost never acknowledge that it's the towers, also bringing it into a repair center won't work because those are almost always served by a better tower.

I wouldnt take it to a repair service anyway lol. I accidentily riped my lcd when replacing the screen a week or so ago and when I called them and asked if they could fix an lcd,
the guy said, "Uh.. do you have warentee on this phone?
"Um.. no.. I got it off ebay"
"Ok.. well did you purchase anytype of insurance for your contract?"
"Um... no I wasnt offered any.."
"Bye" *click*

so no help there


But I think in this case it was the phone rather then the tower.

I spent an hour or so in a chatt room with a tech and she had me call a code number on my phone and click a few options that deactivated the phone, formate it, and then turn it back on and reactivate it at once.

After it was reactivated, She asked me to soft reset and then update the profile.

Its kinda sloooow right now but she said that for the next hour or so my phone will be making updates and reestablishing connections. and that it should work fine after that.
So far its all looking good, I played a youtube vid and downloaded a file.

Both of wich i couldnt do befor hand

It stopped working again...
This energy rom doesnt let me update either... so...

Is it happening at home or everywhere?

I was having a similar problem. Outside of my house everything was fine but once inside no data, texts, weather, etc. Calls worked fine.

I have an Airave/Airvana inside my house and after several calls to my ISP and to sprint, sprint decided that it was defective and sent me a new one. Still didn't work.

Found out today that there are airave outages in several areas around the country and sprint is working on it and should have it fixed in a "few days" according to the tech. So, I unplugged my airvana and keep my phone near a window while I'm at home. Works fine.

Just a quick note didnt read all of the thread, but i have been experiencing horrible data on my Asurion replacement , and also on the one previous to this one . I think the towwers/sprints network is just not functioning properly

Thanks for the input. Straming or web browsing is pretty much the only thing thats messed up.

While in the chatt on sprint.com, the tech deactivaded and reactivaded my phone and had me update the profile again to resync to the towers.. and of course it worked while we were in the chatt.

It was exxxtreeeaamly slow though. but it wasnt timeing out of every operation.

I soft resetted my phone after an hour like she had told me and then the data turned off again.
I hope its the towers.. I really do.

But the fact that It worked for that hour is bothersom.

It only started a few days ago, I havnot been out of town since its started though.

Monday through wendsday Im in Austin wich is an hour from my house so Hopefully the data works there.

If it does its the towers.
If not.. My phone is sh*t now.

Especially since the lcd isnt really working anymore......

its most likely the towers I've been seeing alot of complaints in the sprint forums from what appear to be TX zipcodes. TX,LA and MI are apparently the top 3.

LOL, it must be because Sprint is selling tons of androids which supposedly use significantly more data than the TP2 which gave them good reason to jack up their monthly fees for it. And now the network has slowed to a crawl...
...just had to rant a bit. sorry. ;-)

I suggest you ask someone from Sprint for your MSL or use this app to retrieve it:

Then dial ##786# and then click on Menu at the bottom right.
Press Reset then OK and then enter your MSL. The phone will do a hard reset and reprovision. That will reset your data settings. That should fix your issue.

Thanks. I guess its worth a shot, although I spent like 2 hours in a chatt with someone on sprint.com and they had me do something similar, it was like a ##367# number, and then had me deactivate the phone and reactivate it.

Then they had me do re provisions and such and it worked for like 20 minutes and was suuuper slow, but after a soft reset it was nothing again

Im really hoping its the toweres like everyone else is saying

It very well could be. I'd say if what I suggested doesn't help then you've got a hardware problem or it's on Sprint's end. You might try a different radio although you said calls and everything else worked ok.

BTW They probably had you do ##3282# which is a data reprovision but ##786# does a full wipe and restore of epst and reprovision.

ya thats what it was. I knew it started with a 3 lol

and Im chatting again and its ##3282#
But ya.. I was on wifi earlier to my home router and it was working just fine..

so idk. Ima try your recomendation here and see what happens

ya.. its just data thats flaky. So idk.. and I was on 6.1 to test it and the radio is 1.9 or something like that and I just flashed an energy rom with is on the current 2.32....

So Im not convinced it would be a radio, I was looking around on that too


And Im currently in another chatt with sprint and "assure" me that there is no tower related issues in my area

yea of course normal sprint tech is not going to admit there's an issue,often times u have to either goto the store or call advanced tech to get them to admit it. or u can go on the sprint community site and PM someone named jellybean91, she's very honest when it comes to tower issues.

That's interesting. In early July, I also received an Asurion replacement and unlike my other phones, it doesn't work AT ALL if I'm inside. If I go drive around calls take forever to dial and connect and data intermittently goes into 1x and then can't connect at all. It NEVER achieves Ev.

I know Asurion replacements carry a one year warranty so I'm thinking about having them send another one. I'm hesitant to get another though because this one shows little prior usage and the next one could be worse. Hoping I can find a solution on my own.

It could also be because of all the Virgin Mobile customers riding on Sprint's network along with their post-paid customers.

What radio would you suggest to try?

So.. I did the ##786# and now my phone is currently deactivated..
the 3282 reactivated my phone almost immeadietly when I was on the chatt with them.. is this going to activate on its own or... am I screwed

No No you're not screwed. Your esn is still on the Sprint network. You probably just need to reprogram your mobile number into your phone. That should not have deactivated it your number probably was cleared out.

Try going back into epst and put your number back in.

Sorry! (It's been a while since I did this) I forgot to tell you after you do ##786# you need to program your mobile number & MSID back in (##msl#) then run Update Profile in Settings. That should do it.

Its all good, I contacted sprint and they helped me to do thos steps but still no data :/

They said they are sending me a new phone overnight.
Yay..

That resolves my issue of a bad lcd and hopefully better data

ya. I already have on order a new lcd screen to a shop on the other side of town that said he would replace it for 35 bucks.

He said he would order the part, he found one for 20 bucks from a dealer in china... and then he woulod charge 15 bucks in labour

That was befor the data crap...

worst comes to worst.. I have 2 touch pro 2s lol

They wanted to send me a new one and then just add it to the bill and they were gana make me pay retail price

idk but I might just get that one if everything is fuctional.

Everything on mine works but data.
Would there be a way of testing the data on his phone if it isnt active?

But the lady I talked to didnt give me the right information at all.
She didnt tell me that they would charge me for the new phone, actually the refurbashed one they would have sent

And she ALSO didnt mension the fact that Id have to send in my old one. Wich I wouldnt be worried about except the fact that the LCD is messed up because I changed the screen myself since when I took it into the repair store they pointed me to the door since i Didnt have insurance on my phone

That was well over a month ago, (data only messes up like last week) and if htc opened the phone and said that the data connection issue was MY fault, they would charge me 500 bucks.

2 straight days of fighting for them to give me faulse hope, then another 3 days of fighting the local store because they didnt want to give me another phone like the lady said they would phone

Come to find out the lady I was talking to didnt even put in the order for the phone to be sent to the store for me to pick it up...

Ok... so I bought another one from someone in town for 100 bucks and its not onnecting either. I have it connected through my router and its getting the same error messages.

Sprint finnaly just told me that there was infact a tower issue...
and that the problem should be resolved.
But its not...
AND I wasted 100 bucks.. yay

You say it's connected to your router? Do you mean a home wifi router?

ya when im on the home/work/school wifi router i dont have any issues.
just when connected to sprints network, I always get #777 connection issues >:(

I knew it was the towers the whole time, there are TONS of complaint of people in the 7XXXX zipcodes (which are TX,LA,OK,and AR) about it. my hometown still has the issue but thankfully im in the metro east area for now (whose speeds are fantastic by the way) so I don't have to deal with it.
