Lovin' this new battery
I walked into a VZW store last week to ask if there was an extended battery for the TP2. Checking the "warehouse" the salesperson said there was. A 2100maH battery was available for $10 2 day shipping included. I ordered one. Came two days just as promised. I opened it to find that it was about twice as thick as the original and came with a new plastic back for the phone. My first fear was that it would no longer fit the seidio holster but I was wrong. It fits perfect. My second fear was changing the back cover would impact the conference speaker an mute button but these too work fine. But an unexpected improvement was the way the camera cover is both recessed (so it is better protected) and it is made of some substance which in my case is much clearer making may pictures to come out crystal clear. In fact I was in the market researching a new point and shoot camera and my Iphone toting son saw some of my new pictures from camping this weekend and he encouraged me to forgo the camera for the phone. Lastly, this battery is very powerful. I easily go 2 full days of extended use with brightness now set to full screen.... lovin' it!

Re: Lovin' this new battery
Glad it helped out your pics. If I wanted good pics on my TP2 I always popped off the back cover :(

Will that battery fit a Sprint TP2? |

I don't get anywhere near 2 days on mine. A full day with mixed relatively heavy use is the best I can get, which is way better than the original battery, in my case. Of course the OP may be using a custom ROM which may cut his power consumption or, maybe doesn't use as much data as I do. If you can live with a fatter phone, get one. |
Re: Lovin' this new battery
how much "fatter" is this? like is it doubled thickness?
|
Re: Lovin' this new battery
yeah about double... but the benefits outweigh (forgive the pun)... after now a week I would update my results to indicate a full day plus of heavy use. But it is great to go into a day with no limitations. Easily worth $10

Re: Lovin' this new battery
i dont have a vzn store any where near me (2hr drive) any way i can get one from you? if i am breaking any fourm rules let me know
|
Re: Lovin' this new battery
seems you should be able to just call vzw and order one...
|
Re: Lovin' this new battery
yep, just snagged one myself $9.99 on clearance now. awesome deal. you will have to call customer service though because they're not on the website. also, that probably means you need an account to order. the sku is vzw6875batx if that helps.

Re: Lovin' this new battery
well i might or might not be on vzn

Re: Lovin' this new battery
I got my friend who is on Verizon to order me one yesterday! I am on Sprint but will be painting the case with "Plasti Dip," a black rubber armor coating that is designed for the handles of tools and such. This will make it match my phone better and also will help to provide protection as my silicone case will no longer fit the battery cover.
This is a new phone for me, replacing an old Nextel i365 that had been through hell. I know that it is at the end of life and could have gotten a much never HTC Evo for $45 more but needed the GSM side for when I deploy. |
Re: Lovin' this new battery
Hi I just ordered the $9.99 extendid battery!! heeeeeee
A Sprint rep told me about it, and I remember it posted here. I called Verizon customer service (888 294-6804), and told them I dont have a cell number. The sales rep helped me anyway, it was no problem. Also offered me all the accesories they had (stylus, mem, cases, holsters) She gave me her name and extension, and says to call her if I ever need anything more from them. so it is still available and she seemed eager to sell me stuff, So you should not have a problem calling verizon, but if you are having problem ordering it, PM me and I will give you her extension, as I don't want it to get spammed. EDIT: I also posted elsewhere about extendid batteries. I purchased Samsung 1650ma battery from overseas, for my Brother's EPic because from my experience and research, no matter what name brand a battery is, NOTHING BEATS A STOCK COMPANY NAME BRAND BATTERY!! So HTC, Samsung, etc. batteries will outperform ANY third party name brands of similar Ma rating. The other alternative is the super cheapo China batteries. Ebay had plenty of compatible EVO batteries. So you may have to get extendid case separately. Also, if you get the wrong extendid case (GSM) you can just snip the bottom opening wider, for CDMA units. The battery price is good but the problem is that their charging circuitry is erractic at first, because they actually stack 2 cheapo batteries in parallel inside one housing.. |
Re: Lovin' this new battery
a week in and no complaints here... I realize VZW is just dumping these at $10 but it does make me wonder why something in the vicinity of 2100MaH doesn't come standard with these smartphones. I for one would pay an additional premium to not have to be concerned about battery life for at least one full day. I mean 1500MaH just does not cut it...

Re: Lovin' this new battery
I just called VZW and they are no longer in the warehouse. :(

vzw6875batx Sidenote: I can confirm the camera lens is MUCH better, and superior to stock. very clear lens. The case does not feel as big as other extendid cases for TP2 , because of the angled sides. Truley excellent , and I know because I had the sprint and cheapo versions. |
Re: Lovin' this new battery
Does the battery also come with the extended cover or do you order that separately?

At first they didnt find it with me either. Be persistent and try again. My lead is gone, as The lady who helped me and nyCecilia left that position. |
Re: Lovin' this new battery
Hi Maxx! I called the number listed on your post #12. Yes, I gave them the number you had listed on post #16. Jennifer from Verizon found the item but said it is marked as 'close out'. I said order me two, but when she placed the order it came back 'out of stock'. Do you think I should try again?

heres a link (Its in china, so it will take about a month to get here tho... I ordered a screen from china and it took forever lol) Its crazy that there are some that wana charge 100 bucks when you can get them from the store for 10.... On a different battery note...... My phone had drained 100 percent last week and wouldnt charge at all T-T everytime I plugged it in it would charge for 2 seconds, turn itself on, then die cause it wasnt charged enough to boot. This went on for 3 hours with no changes. I went to the sprint store to see if they had any batteries and the guy asked what was wrong I told him it wouldnt charge and he said hed go to the back to plug it in and see what he could do. He left the me at the desk a little worried cause first off.... my phone can in no way be under warrenty since i... -Got it off ebay -Had a custom rom -Was running a dualBoot droid So after worring for like 5 mins he came back out and said that I had a defective battery and that he had swapped it out and all it needed was some charging. So i stood there for a few more seconds and then said thats it? and he said ya, unless there was anything else you needed. I said no and he said have a nice day FREE BATTERY!!! lol a sweet red one :P |
Re: Lovin' this new battery
Thanks for the information aedon!!

Re: Lovin' this new battery
If you want another standard battery, on 1/29/11 I ordered this battery from eBay for $8.95. It's currently $7.95. It's a great battery for the TP2 -- better than the original, in my opinion. I highly recommend it. This, along with my original battery, are still going strong. I would not hesitate to buy from them again. :)

Re: Lovin' this new battery
FWIW: I polished the covers lens with some chrome polish and it removed all the scratches. My pics are 100% improved.

Re: Lovin' this new battery
I just (3 minutes ago) ordered 2 batteries. $21~ (tax) shipped says I will have them friday. so it appears they are still in stock. I gave the vzw6875batx number and he brought it right up no problem.

I think I've seen some of those on Ebay for around $50. |
Re: Lovin' this new battery
I just picked up two from ebay for 16.88 each shipped. Not the $9.99 that was directly offered from Verizon, but not bad. No shipping, no tax! Should be here in a few days!!
