WIFI Mode Usage Question
 

I'm new here so not sure if this is the right place to post this question... and I'll apologize upfront if this is a pretty stupid question.. but I'm going to ask anyway...

I have a TP2 on Sprint's network and will be traveling to Toronto soon for a couple of weeks.

I'm not really sure what their options are for calling plans, I think they offer a reduced usage rate or something but they don't offer Data.

My question is, can I have my phone in Airplane mode and use a Wifi hotspot on the phone without connecting to Sprint? I would think techincally I wouldn't even need to have phone service on the device, but I'm not exactly sure how it works. Would what I'm planning on doing work and I won't be charged any usage/data through Sprint using WIFI Hotspots to check email, etc?

You can definitely use Wifi on your phone without being in Sprint service; however, if you're in Airplane Mode, a registry setting prevents you from using Wifi.

You can use the HTC Comm Manager to turn the Phone off (connection with Sprint) and turn Wifi on.
