Hmm I have never once had the weather app "NOT" detect the exact city I am in with its default location based capacity.

do you live in an area where it does not properly detect the city your in? or are you using a different weather service all together for some reason? (I am curious ie maybe there is a reason I should want to use it :-)

MS is more trustable with data than google is, thats y i switched

untrustable is untrustable. I don't trust either of them.

both companies have proven themselves untrustworthy and the very NATURE of corruption is it seeks power so ALL power corrupts. Period.

the only way to control corruption is to distribute power so thinly that corruption can never get much of a foot hold to actually do any damage.

Google is a shockingly massive concentration of power. IT WILL be corrupted. it can be no other way in our society as we know it. maybe not now maybe not next year but IT WILL become corrupted.

fyi I'm not running a custom database, I've simply added about 3 cities to my weather database, the same three cities that have been in there since my last hard reset when VZW MR2 came out.

its not a server issue as both the stock cites and my custom city loaded weather fine (hence my lack of motivation to find a fix)

I'm sticking with a local carrier issue, I'm not sure how that would happen since a coworker with an HTC android device had no problems. Then again this is the same area where they had a tower with a time zone problem for 2 months before they fixed it.

Hah, so check this out,

I flew out of town this weekend and when I hit the ground in Minneapolis the weather at "my location" updated immediately, then on the ground in Vegas it worked flawlessly for 4 days. Upon return it updated in Minneapolis again, and now that I'm 2 states away its still showing the last location of "St. Paul" and hasn't updated the location weather. The other loaded cities continue to work fine.

well for anybody keeping score at home, I hard reset and flashed to VZW MR3 this weekend for the fun of it.
As I expected it had no effect and it still cannot find "my location"

The problem is the towers in your area then. You could try to contact Verizon, but who knows if they'll be able to do anything.

Re: Weather at "my location"

bump, anybody else yet?

problem seems to be the UP of Michigan, when I hit the WI border it works fine

I opened a ticket with Verizon, but they want to blame HTC, and HTC says its not their problem.

and today upon returning to the state and having the 'my location' work fine while I was away it now works again at home....

hopefully it'll last...
