Woke up yesterday to find screen wouldn't come out of sleep mode

I have the Verizon varient of the TP2 and am running Windows moble (latest edition).

Yesterday morning, I woke up to find that pressing the LCD backlight button wouldn't bring up the screen. The hard buttons at the bottom would light up when pressed, but the screen wouldn't.

I pulled the battery, waited a minute, then replace the battery and booted up.

The phone then worked as normal. After a few minutes, it would again not come out of black screen.

Redid the battery thing, then went directly into power settings to find that somehow the boxes to put it to sleep after 1 minute of inactivity was marked off.

I unchecked them and all seems fine now.

Two questions. First, does it sound like I fixed the problem or only did a workaround and probably still have the problem.

The second question, did Verizon do an update that may have changed these settings?....or have I been hacked?
