Odd Screen Rotation Problems with Keyboard

if it does not freeze up, the screen will rotate, but not the windows taskbar and soft keys, they keyboard works, but i do not see any text entry until i slide the keyboard closed and the screen rotates back to portrait...but like i said, this is only if it doesnt freeze up, which it does 95% of the time.
i am pretty sure that this is a hardware problem, probably in the ribbon cable as it does it regardless of ROM, even after a fresh hard reset.

I would guess the ribbon cable is making an intermittent connection.
