Moving from a Touch Pro 2 to an Android
I am contemplating a move from my Touch Pro 2 to an Android phone, as Sprint has terminated my contract for roaming data usage, and I will be switching to Verizon.
To back up my programs on my windows phone I use PPCbackup, is there a way to use this backup file to load the contacts to an Android phone? I would prefer to do this without a Google account if possible, as I do not wish to sinc either of my phones with Google. |

Your TP2 backup file will not be compatible with anything on the Android phone. Relying on Google is the one thing keeping me from an Android phone. I'm an Outlook user and prefer not to have my info on an internet server.

doesnt outlook house your information too if you plan on doing any OTA syncing unless you manually do it everytime you flash or have a backup on your sd

On old chinese proverb reads: "If you're gonna get screwed, might as well give it up to the best." I don't concern myself too much with worrying over who does what with my data from a corporate point of view... now personal malicious breaches are one thing but deciding between a yahoo, google, aol, or outlook houses my accounts all comes down to who can do it the most elloquently and add value to how I function daily by either making it sleek, seamless, fun or secure lol For me, and for right now, Google meets my needs.

Like I said, I prefer to keep my data local whenever possible. Google is more advertising-centric. Like the old saying, there's no free lunch. At some point, they are all in it to get something out of it.

I thought android syncs to outlook natively? I got a while till my contract is over, but I am counting the days until I can get the epic.

Not natively, from what I understand. It requires Companionlink (not free) or some other 3rd party software and reports are that things like Notes and e-mail do not sync.
