Can I tether Sprint TP2 WM6.5 to other devices?

OK, I have a stock Sprint 6.5 TP2(upgraded from 6.1 after purchase) and I was wondering if there is a way to tether it to my Dell Axim x51v's I still have around or possibly my wife's laptop if we take it on the road.

I searched but most of the threads I come across are all related to cooked ROMs. I'd like to know if there's a way to tether using the stock option. What programs would I need to install? Do I have to root my phone? What exactly is Rooting anyway?

search for tom codon wifirouter. its free and just choose the "sprint" connection. Rooting is unlocking but rooting is what you do to android phones, like jailbreaking is to iphones

Some devices may not be able to see the network... My son's Zune HD cannot see my TP2 with that same cab. But laptops and netbooks don't seem to have a problem seeing it.

am i missing something ?? but the tom codon wifirouter i have installed twice and everytime I can't find it anywhere. I have the Sprint HTC TP2 6.5 stock rom. It installs fine but I for the life of me cant find were I can access it. I look in the start menu and nothing..where is it.?

Instead of starting need thread...

I have win mo wifi router, and I'm trying to tether my android pad. The ad hoc workaround for my pad requires channel 11 and I can't find the setting to change the channels on the tp2.

I see in settings/connections/wifi settings/advanced/main tab it shows channel 1 (with router on) but can't change it. I also searched the settings on win mo wifi router but didn'T notice a setting for channels. Even looked in reg. Didn't see anything that popped out

Any ideas?? I read the htc wifi router is automatically set to channel 11, is this correct? Bad thing is its not in the rom. Thanks for the help
