6.1's are stable, but it's kinda lame feature wise, and support is very difficult to come by. In general, most TP2 users will get one problem or another, and it helps to have good support.

6.1 is not finger friendly and really designed for stylus. It does have glitches as well. I was using it for a while but quit due to the poor social networking support and swype doesnt work well with it. it always loses settings on soft reset.

I recommend you use the Sprint 6.1 rom and install the Touch Pro 2 CleanUp/Tweaks cab. It will give you everything you mentioned.

Wow, how can you get away with this without being attacked?

I would have loved 21916, but it cant do basic things like reminder notifications and play friendly with mobile shell. Doesnt play very friendly with pocketshield either.

I flashed LEAD and NRG, and neither could do this. My best guess is build rather than isolated incident. I couldnt run 21916 long enough to get SOD's but long enough to see it was very buggy with MS and PS.

i got my tp2 on 5/17/10 and it had the stock 6.5 rom on it which is also a 21889, it had some SODs, sms hangs and stability issues around 6/20 i got tired of it and decided to try the latest mighty rom, while it was more stable and had a little bit more ram than the stock 6.5 it still had the same amount of SODs as the stock did, then after a week on that i went to mighty rom full force and stayed there till i learned of blackout rom(couldnt stay on that because of lack of spanish sip). on the latest LEAD i get my notifications just fine but maybe thats because i use sense and not M$.but no SODs on any of the 21916 that ive tried and theyre almost as stable as the 6.1 roms

i didnt have a need for my stylus alot on 6.1, just to resize some boxes in excel, thats about it. some of the finger friendliness that u now see in 6.5 started in the high 6.1 builds (21052+)

I say NRG is the way to go... One of the most popular, stable, skinned out(several versions always), has support here on PPCG and updates on twitter for new Roms...

Re: Sprint TP2 starting over... looking for advice

Maybe some more info about my style and intended usage would be helpful...

  • I don't use twitter and hopefully never will.
  • I use facebook 90% for the games, which I can't access on a mobile device; the other 10% I am fine doing at my leisure on my PC or laptop.
  • I get way too many emails each day (hour, minute, etc.) to have them come to my phone... my average, after spam filters remove almost all spam, is just about 250 per day (mostly during business hours).
  • Whenever I can avoid texting, SMS, MMS, whatever you want to call it, I do. I much prefer to use a phone to talk, and a computer to send an email.
  • I'd like to use my phone to play games, watch movies, listen to music, and call family, friends and business associates. I do also make use of the GPS/Nav functions, and occasionally get online to look something up, though I get annoyed with most sites' mobile versions so not as much as I had hoped to. It has also replaced my watch and alarm clock.
  • I'd like the phone's battery to last as long as possible while I use it, whether it is in my pocket, on a call, or playing a movie or game...
  • I'd like the phone to run smoothly and reliably at all times, with as little maintenance and flashing/updating/etc. as possible.
  • When I have my laptop back, I'd love to use my phone as a modem or wifi router. I don't mind a USB connection, but bluetooth or wireless is nicer...

Thanks!

no twitter, any rom is fine

6.1 has the weakest facebook integration out of all roms

if you dont use email, any rom is fine. I dont think 250 a day is a problem and if it gets to be too much, change your download intervals. an untouched 6.1 is slow browsing through emails. 6.5 is better if you read a lot of emails

any rom is good to talk

any rom for apps

hit and miss for battery

6.1 more reliability, but you can easily make 6.5 as reliable with a soft reset everyday (process can be automated with a number of tools)

custom rom for wifi router; any rom applicable

I highly recommend phone weaver for saving battery life. I have it set up to have the internet disabled all day cause i dont need it. Having no internet on will save battery life big time. I would recommend the medhill rom 8-30 to be exact, this is the closest rom i have used which is as stable as the stock rom. If you want a smooth rom with no incidents, stick to the sprint 6.5 stock rom.

are you on crack on something? that rom has been considered to be one of the most unstable by many users

95 percent of the custom roms have abnormal behavior, this happends when you combine a bunch of drivers and os's of different phones. If you are not into updating your rom every couple of days the stock rom is sufficient.
