My Password no longer works. Again.

This is the second time, and a hard reset sets me back 2 hours at least when I have to, between setting up the phone again, installs, VPN config, etc.

It was annoying the first time. It's infuriating this time.

I sync with ActiveSync against my Google Apps account, and also have a Gmail account that uses IMAP. My radio is unlocked, and I jump on to T-Mobile when I need service in an area where Sprint doesn't have coverage. Other than that, it's a stock, plain vanilla Sprint WinMo 6.5 ROM.

As far as precursors leading up to this... there are none. It'll just happen out of the blue, and usually the the most inopportune time possible. Go to unlock the phone, and:

"Password Incorrect. The password you entered is incorrect.."

Any ideas to avoid dealing with this again? Anyone have this happen to them too? My patience with this phone is beginning to wear thin...

When you get the incorrect password message have you tried soft resetting and then after it resets try your password again?
I had this problem sometimes on my old Vogue and I would soft reset and then it would work.

Maybe it's another bug on that rom.

seems to be more and more common lately.. i keep seeing posts about passwords becoming invalid..

noone ever seems to have a real solution though.. ie- the bug cant be pinpointed..

whys it take 2hrs to get going again?? sheeesh, atleast use MS Myphone or something to take away some of the burden of restoring info....

i install over 70things and it take me no longer than 10-15minutes to be fully restored after a flash

Same here, seen lots of this with this phone. Enough so that i will never use a password on it. Why would you do so after already experiencing this once? I'm afraid a hard reset is the only fix. Don't go for the threepeat.

the only commonality i've seen is linking exchange to google. I'm assuming someone using a corporate exchange doesn't have the issue, or the pin can be reset on the server, preventing the hard-reset.

I've also heard this happening from installing swype 3.9, there are versions of 3.9 floating around that do not cause this.

lol get a rom with XDA UC and the just keep all your apps in there... you can even write your config script and have your email setup, that or use sashimi or something of the like.... no need to spend 2 hours at all, takes me about 15 minutes, including a months worth of complete emails and attachments from my gmail....

Yes there is a version of Swype that causes password problems. After 2 hard resets, I decided it was not worth it.
